  1. No dog in this hunt, but just a comment. Lexington will make a big mistake if the White House team is underestimated. Though Lipscomb and White House have not played in recent years there is a long history of great, hard fought games between the two. White House leads the series with 10 wins to Lipscomb's 8. Coach Porter, like all coaches, has different talent from year to year, but he consistently gets great results through disciplined, fundamental football and hard work - much like coach McCadams at Lipscomb. Lipscomb has played Lexington twice (2005 and 2008) and won twice by large margins (a combined 69-6). In 2005 White House made it to the quarterfinals in Class 3A, and in 2008 they made it to the 3A semifinals. None of this really matters come Friday night, but I assure you that White House will be ready to play. We heard the same "smack" in 2005 and 2008 from the Lexington vocal minority. Most of the Lexington fans were knowledgeable, courteous, great fans and supporters of their team. Unfortunately there are always a few that poorly represent the community.
  2. William Officer - running back, Lipscomb
  3. Couldn't ask for a better State Championship contest. Superior effort by both teams, and last team with the ball wins. Congratulations to Union City for getting over the hump and taking home the championship trophy.
  4. Very impressive performance tonight by the Bobcats. Congratulations on a big win for your program and on advancing to meet Lexington in Round 3. Good luck going forward. I hope you win it all. Anyone who is not a believer in Bo Wallace as a legitimate Mr. Football candidate needs to re-think his/her position.
  5. Senior leadership, depth at key positions, minimal serious injuries, and a dash of good fortune.
  6. Good luck tonight to Page. Bring home the "W."
  7. Livingston might have run the veer against Lipscomb that year in the state championship game where the mustangs didn't know whether or not to scratch their watch or wind their ####. Interesting quote from someone whose team lost 55-13 the night before the Mustangs lost to LA.
  8. This will be another great battle. But then again who knows?Could be another blowout. I wouldnt bet on that either.DL has somehow, someway, every year, found a way to win these games. If GC is to get the win they must not make more than one mistake and that may be too many.Giles gets an edge at home but Lipscomb gets an edge in never lossing to GC. Both teams have it all,speed,talent,confidence,coaching,ect.ect.Who will it be?Could go either way. Giles gets an edge in a better win/loss record,Lipscomb gets an edge in playing a tougher schedule.Who will it be? Finally I may see another decent football game. Lets go Cats, but either way I will still pull for the winner. Nice post, Dedicated. I am a long time Mustang fan and will be rooting hard for our boys to advance to Round 3. However, if GC pulls out the win I hope they will go on to be State Champs.
  9. Don't count on Pearl Cohn being undisciplined. They were extremely disciplined against Lipscomb, and with better time management near the end of the game they would likely have won the game. Defensively, #26 (LB) and #1 (CB) were outstanding. Large line and plenty of good athletes. SC will have to bring its "A" game to advance.
  10. I thought some of those teams had good records because they worked hard all year......but if your right it should be an easy roll through the first few rounds for DL There will be no "easy roll" for DL or any other team that has to pass through Pulaski.
  11. Good luck Milan from this Lipscomb fan. Many of us have great respect for your program. Our visit to your place in 1994 is one of my fondest memories of the football careers of my sons that played for the Mustangs.
  12. The two teams had some exciting, hard hitting games back in the mid 90's. Sounds like tomorrow night will be another one. PC is always loaded with talent and speed. DL will challenge with discipline and execution. Too bad the weather forecast is poor. This game deserves a huge fan turnout.
  13. Thanks for sharing this. Truly, there is nothing quite like the shared memories of high school football.
  14. The undefeated 1994 team had a secondary that would match up with any in recent years. Cornerbacks were Shane Pharr and Steve Parks and safteys were Scott Rhodes and Andrew Stewart. Pharr and Parks were punishing tacklers as well as good in coverage. Rhodes and Stewart both had excellent hands and great range defending against the deep ball.
  15. Don't cout out the Mustangs just yet. Big win over White's Creek tonight 41 - 14.
