This was a similar case when I graduated in 06, only JC, Clay, and Monterey were near evenly talented and nobody was a clear favorite. Monterey had Horton who won pitcher of the year, Celina had Campbell who could've just as easily won pitcher of the year, instead he won player of the year and JC's top 4 hitters were batting over .440. Monterey ended up the season 1st, Clay 2nd and JC 3rd and I think that was the deciding factor for pitcher of the year . . MVP voting was very close though. Drew ended up beating me by one vote. Coaches notice a good hitter. I still think, even though JC gets pitcher of the year, that Ragland should get the award.
