  1. Anyone (elementary school through high school, boys or girls) in the Upper Cumberland area who may be interested in personal baketball workouts, contact Kyle Gribble at (931)510-8022. Kyle works with players one to two times a week, at area gyms, improving skill level. Kyle was a member of the White County High School Back-to-Back State Champs in 1998-1999, played 4 years at Carson Newman and also played 2 years for the Nashville Rhythm (semi-pro). Private sessions are available, as well as joining other players in your age group for different types of workouts. If interetsed, contact Kyle or message me. Thanks and have a great off-season!!!

  3. I do not think we are talking about the same person. The one I am referring to did not ref the 5A Girls Championship. I thought that both refs did a good job Saturday night. I am talking about a guy who ref'd Tuesday night at The Center. I completely understand that they have to learn somewhere, but I think most people expect a little higher level at Tournament time (especially when it's advertised as a State Tourney). Guess it was hard to evenfind refs after all the re-scheduling and it being District Tournament time as well. I do admire their efforts and I would not want to be in their position.
  4. Thanks for the props!! And congrats on the CTC Championship!! Yes...girls. #15 is the wing (shooter) who started last year?(for Harris) If so, she's gonna be a great player in high school. Plays hard every game. We would have liked to play Harris again also. We played awful the first game of the season against them, but the second and third times it seemed we had improved. We just don't have a consistent shooter. If we bring out that skill in one of our girls we could be much better. Our defense has gotten us where we are right now. It's hard for Middle School's to have much money for anything other than regular season needs. It's unfortunate. Will most of the Harris girls be playing AAU?
  5. You hit the nail on the head!!! That was exactly how our game was called by him. He did have great mechanics. It's my understanding that's what the TSSAA Supervisors are looking for to advance them to a higher level of officiating. Maybe that was his goal for the tournament...trying to get in to high school games. He did not seem to show any favoritism...just a BUNCH of missed calls. I have seen a lot of "Palming the Ball" calls in our conference this year. (Not at TNT). Are other regions/areas seeing a lot more of these calls? (By the way, I am glad to see it called)
  6. Who did Dekalb Middle play in the first round?
  7. I would like to see the list as well...Would it be posted in RC Times next week? I have had trouble following tournament information on that web site, but, then again, there have been so many changes to the schedules due to weather. Does anyone know if they post a listing or if any other local papers do?
  8. Wow...I am suprised Ocoee won. We played both teams. Yes, they are good, but I believe Harris had a much fundamentally stronger team. (Ocoee is a very fast tempo team and very aggressive.) Harris Middle's Coach has really impressed me for the past two years I have seen him. Thanks for the info...I tried to get some info from the James Haile Tourney post...but all I read was a lot of "extracirucullar information" about players and fans. I just wanted basketball. Were there some of Harris's starters out or some other reason they may have lost? Why does Harris not play in TNT?
  9. Does anyone happen to know if Harris Middle girls played in any post-season tournaments? If so,where, and how did they do?
  10. Ocoee is a tough team. Cleveland must be a good team to beat them... Did Cleveland play Harris Middle (Shelbyville) or Meigs County? If so, how close were the games.
  11. Your teammate (A.S.) was logged in under my name and asked you that question.
  12. You are very lucky to have such good support from your middle school and high school coaches. We have Nothing Even Close where I live. I hope you pat them on the back and tell them how much you do appreciate them. Our administrators haven't even been to one away game this year for our eight grade team, and I have only missed one game all year. If you can't get support from the administrators, you can't expect much more from the coaching staff. It does trickle down. It's unfortunate. Luckily there are some coaches who just make the extra effort, as in your commmunity. Our high school generally has strong teams and will always be the best game in town, as it should. I played 15+ years ago and still attend most high school games. I know it's rare, but I have a lot of ties to our school and I guess everyone else doesn't share my same passion. I also have 5 children (one at every level...elementary, middle school, high school. college. and one at home)...so I get to attend games all over our county for various sports, not just basketball. Maybe you could let us know the names of your coaches....and we could recruit next year. LOL ...Best of Luck to your teams!!!!!
  13. Trust me...I know how serious it is. It is serious to most people to spend 5-6 days a weeks either practicing or in a game. I was directing the sarcasism at the person who seemed to take "himself and high school basketball" serious and nothing else. For the kids who play at our local school, I want them to think that we as a community take it seriously and we do respect and admire you all for your committment and dedication to sports as well as academics. Middle School should not be compared with the High School level. It is completely different. But it serves a valuable purpose to the basketball community. (As does elementary school, AAU, Junior Pro leagues, etc. ) #10...I admire your passion for the game at your level...keep up the great attitude and don't let ANYONE make you think you don't deserve respect!!! No one is asking for statewide recognition...maybe just a word of encouragement!!! Good Luck Warriorette!!!
