  1. SHS needs to do more than just show up. IMO, the coaches are doing all they can to prepare the team, but they need to play with passion and intensity. If you're not gonna do that, then don't step on the field.
  2. It was good to see Tennessee on ESPN for the second (or third) year in row! I could tell the atmosphere at the Beech-Station Camp game was electric. Hurd is a beast and doesn't have to carry the load this year for the Bucs. It was extremely hot out there! I don't think Hurd is out of shape but wonder if he has asthma. It also looks like Station Camp will have a very good year. They have some offensive weapons!
  3. Did anyone see the district predictions on the Tennessean website? What are everyone's thoughts? http://lms.usatodayhss.com/nashville/articles/item/1096-district-predictions-for-middle-tn-prep-football
  4. I think this game will be a good one but a toss up. SHS wins by a TD.
  5. Does anyone know what Springfield's schedule is for 2013?
  6. I agree. Maryville could beat some good out-of-state teams. Is it possible for them to play an out-of-state team every two years?
  7. Very true. Thinking about Alabama, I think they have a lot of small schools. Living in Illinois, it's a more populated state than Tennessee and lots of public high schools (mainly in Chicago) aren't eligible to compete in the state playoffs. Those schools compete for city championships. The private schools have multipliers applied to their school enrollments. Missouri also has six classes for 11-man football. Each class has districts with anywhere from 3-6 teams. MO also has 8-man football.
  8. While it's good to see Springfield in the playoffs, it may be a long night for them if they don't come ready to play and play smart football. We haven't won a playoff game since 2006. I believe SHS can pull the upset.
  9. The Craigmont/East game was cancelled due to another shooting...SMH.
  10. Now, this is ridiculous! The game was cancelled. Do people in Memphis just not care anymore?? SMH News Story
  11. All I know is this: there may be a lot of points scored in both games. After seeing Kenwood play against Springfield, they're a better team than what their record shows. I think they'll win one game, but I wouldn't be surprised if they win both.
  12. This game went into three overtimes. In fact, all of HC games have been blowouts.
  13. Jackets win 42-21. Looks like the offense came alive. Did anyone go to the game?
  14. I hope Springfield goes into this game playing to WIN! They must take care of the football, not be over anxious, play smart, and stay healthy. Hope it is a good game and that the Springfield faithful will make the safe trip to Paris. Good luck to both teams. GO JACKETS!!
  15. I agree. Clarksville has had our number the last few meetings, especially at our place. This trend needs to be reversed. GO JACKETS!!!
  16. Final score was 7-0 Whitehaven won. Whitehaven got a big win in East St. Louis against an Illinois powerhouse. Good defensive game by both teams. St. Rita had too many missed opportunities. Whitehaven's defense is fast/very athletic and will cause problems for a lot of teams this year.
  17. GO JACKETS!! Good luck tomorrow night!
  18. Do you think they were getting paid per flag thrown? I hope the team stays healthy. I hear we're kinda banged up right now.
  19. Springfield wins 18-7 Listening to the game on the radio, it was a defensive game but too many penalties for the Jackets. We gotta lot of work to do but still glad we got the win. GO JACKETS!!
  20. Ridgeway received a lot of hype in the preason. I was not expecting this.
  21. Here are some of my favorites: 1988 Page - SHS won 6-3 for their first playoff win in many moons (maybe ever). Game was played in the pouring rain. SHS lost 7-3 to David Lipscomb in the second round of the playoffs finishing 7-5. IMO, this season set the foundation for hard work, dedication, and success for the football program. 1991 David Lipscomb (second round playoff game)- after suffering some closes to the Mustangs, the Yellow Jackets got that monkey off their back and overwhelmed David Lipscomb 34-7. SHS went on to finish 12-2 for the season (state semifinalist) 1993 Humboldt (second round playoff game) - SHS won 27-7. That game was payback from the Vikings beating us on our home turf in the state quarterfinals and ending our perfect season. 1993 White House (regular season) - WH won 17-14 in OT...but (see below) 1993 White House (state semifinals) - PAYBACK!!! SHS won 12-6 in the pouring rain!!! 1993 McMinn Central - STATE CHAMPS!!! 1994 Humboldt - HHS was favored to win and had Kelcy Williams (best RB in 3A). SHS won 17-14 at Humboldt. SHS finished 10-4 with a disappointing loss at Portland (state semifinalist)
