  1. 57 - Hope you stick around and talk like this the rest of the season. Don't be one of those that disappears when your time comes.
  2. Fan I agree. However, they are two very different teams. SC plays very physical football. EN made a mistake in my opinion of trying to run right at SC. It will be an interesting rematch if it were to take place.
  3. 57 it is very clear what your intentions are. It is also very clear you have no class at all. I am sure EN appreciates the bulletin board material. I finally had a chance to watch the game on DTC. Honestly, EN kept their schemes very vanilla. I was disappointed in what I saw. I am not sure if EN just was looking past SC or if they did not take SC seriously, but EN never used their strength against SC. EN played right into the strength of SC, the line. If a rematch occurs, if I am EN, I utilize my athletes more in space. SC has a great OL/DL with good size. They play a physical style of ball. However, EN has several athletes that SC would not have an answer for if used wisely.
  4. Salem I get what you are saying. Again, Forrest, if they choose to go in a different direction, could hire a great coach. I just don't see anything that tells me from recent past actions that they would. I agree it is an attractive job in a great location. I think that is why so previous coaches used the job as a stepping stone. G. Forrest, I understand your frustration. I understand where your negativity comes from. Have you spoken to anyone in admin about your thoughts? It might not help, but maybe it would help you at least. As far as you mocking me or just directing your negativity towards me, I'm just an interested individual from the outside. Always liked the area and have a good friend that coached there many years ago. My folks bought land in CH so I am reading more about the program. That's all. Not trying to really add anything, just learn.
  5. Salem it is possible for a small school to hire a great coach, under the right circumstances. RR going to Summertown is a great example of that. Mt. Pleasant is another one. I don't see many names lining up to take the Forrest job though, especially since it's not open right now. As far as competence or loyalty, as an administrator I want both. Maybe that is what those in charge at Forrest see in Eli. As an administrator, I am always going to hire the absolute best choice for our school. I am not sure why that would ever be a bad thing. I have seen Forrest on film but not in person. I always thought Forrest would be a great place to coach. I like the small town environment. However, I have never had the opportunity to see a game in CH.
  6. NF just curious if you have given any thought to the notion that maybe those in charge at Forrest are rewarding Eli for his loyalty. Before Eli, coaches used Forrest as a stepping stone to a better job. Every two/three years a new coach was stepping in. In fact, I can't remember the last time Forrest hired a coach that did not come from within the staff. Not saying Forrest does not deserve the best coach they can get, but what if Eli is the best they feel they can get.
  7. Well I guess now they have played and beaten a team like EN. And I guess it was close the entire game. Congrats to SC.
  8. Only one Alcoa. Not too many schools can consistently play up and have the success they have. No team in this thread is on Alcoas level. So yeah, whatever. EN lost a game. Is SC undefeated?
  9. The big L was to a 6A school, Riverdale. SC is having a great season. Not sure they have played a team quite like EN though. Should be a good game for at least a half.
  10. I don't think Watertown has fudged numbers. The area has seem growth like all of Wilson County. New houses being built all the time and even townhouses inside town limits.
  11. Hume Fogg I believe is the oldest public school in Nashville. Lots of great history there. I heard stories about the old gym. Your grandfather must have been one of the ones I heard about.
  12. Postman hope you are good. I'm not associated with EN or even metro anymore. Still keep up with them bit have no idea about names of athletes.
  13. Jerry - Same school, same campus, same buildings, just different name changes. Its been East High (probably from your grandad time), East Lit, to East Nashville Magnet. The school itself is very interesting. My classroom was on the fourth floor, not counting the basement levels or the roof access room. Classroom had hardwood floors and the now trendy exposed wood beams and pipes. The architecture on the outside is not like anything you would see today. And the original gym is still standing. If you like old buildings it would be one to visit.
  14. Nolensville is Williamson county. East Nashville was founded long before 1993. No idea where TSSAA came up with that one.
  15. East Nashville is not new. It is actually one of the oldest schools in Nashville. Nolensville is in Williamson county. Most metro schools started losing support due to Garcia's bussing kids. But hey you dont really care about the truth. Easier to spew garbage. Congrats to TC on the win.
  16. Recently they have not been a great athletic school. But history says otherwise. Several factors have contributed to their downfall.
  17. I'm not saying to focus on those schools but to cover them. One thing for sure is that you never run out of stories about kids in metro. But it's more than metro. Should be more coverage for all of middle Tennessee.
  18. Yes, I miss that too. It seems like now, unless you are LA, CPA, MBA, Oakland, etc., Kreager isn't going to write about you. Some of the other writers will but it is very rare to see anything in the paper. Same with the other sports too. Huggins used to do write ups all the time on metro sports, even the middle schools would get some coverage.
  19. Gone are the good ole days of the Nashville Banner with actual sports writers. Kreager never acknowledges metro teams other than Pearl Cohn, EN, and Cane Ridge. If you arent the cream of the crop or playing the cream of the top, he could care less about you. Unless you happen to be grilling something.
  20. EN should win handily. As far as GH beating themselves, did GH collect the win and loss in the record book? GH had a great run last season but several games were very close if I remember correctly. Give credit where it is due. The other team won just like GH did last season.
  21. Different times and circumstances. Crazy how much things have changed in my lifetime alone much less since before my time. I wouldnt rank any current metro coaches at the top of my list, but they still have time to get there. I think Brunetti is great for PC and metro. Needs a championship to put the icing on the cake. Stewart is doing well at EN. But as far as I know, he didn't take Antioch or even Stratford. Wonder how he would do at one of those schools? Everyone seemed to really like the latest Hillsboro hire. But now they are sliding in the wrong direction. The best metro coaches are those that take what they have and make them better. JMO.
  22. Hurricane you bring up some interesting points. I'm not sure it more difficult today. Different certainly but there have always been obstacles. Have metro coaches recruited before, just read through some old pages. I think you are right. But I dont think it happened nearly as much and I don't think it happened hardly at all between other metro schools. Brunette wouldn't have been as easy on the coaches. Metro has always had some level of success. However, today it's a matter of who can attract the best players and those teams have success where the others are doing good to field complete teams.
  23. Hey Navy, whats your experience within metro? Or are you just looking from a competitors view? Just curious. I strongly disagree with you. Brunetti is a good coach and has a lot of success. However I'm not sure he is even the best coach that has been at PC much less metro.
  24. Fan I would strongly disagree with Tate's comment. Look at how strong the coaches were in the 80s and 90s. Not a dig at the current coaches, but no way they stack up against the best. I remember when if you won your distrct/region in metro you had a chance at a championship. Almost every team in metro has had at least some level of success in the 90s. Even Glencliff and Hillwood had success. HL used to be tough, WC, etc. Take out the current top 3 in metro, who even has a chance to be better than average.
