  1. If you think this comment is funny, you are wrong. Gwen Delk is a classy young lady, just as her whole family has class. It sounds to me like you could use some.
  2. My vote for AA is Gwen Delk. I have known her for a long time and she is a grest person as well as a great ball player. I have also seen Roney play a few times and I know she is a great player, but she does not get the defense stacked on her like Delk does. I do not see giving it to a freshman, even if she has terriffic stats. Let her get battle tested and see if she has not only a great year, but a great career like these other ladies have. Yes, I know that this award is givin for the year and not the career, but at the ceremony, they give your career stats, not just your years stats. Gwen has led her team to the Dance, getting the silver ball last year and has a great chance of getting the gold ball this year. Delk has played through injuries this year and has proven herself to be a warrior. GO GWEN!!!! GO LADY INDIANS !!!!!
  3. Congrats to Gwen Delk and the other Miss Basketball AA finalists. I not only hope you win, but I also hope that we are there to cheer you on after winning the GOLD ball...it's our year!!!!
  4. The new region sites have lessened the chance for upsets, as what happened last year with Westview losing early in region play. It makes winning your district even more important. Who will have the toughest gym to be the visitor in in the region tournament and when does the tournament come to a common site to play? Why the change?
  5. I haven't seen ant 13AA teams play this year, but I have kept up with ya'll in the paper. I know how tough your district is. I had some trouble finding radio stations last night to listen to games. Please post the radio station that covers your games so I can listen when my Indians aren't playing. Have any of you 13AA people seen North Side play? Who do you think matches up best against us? I know the region will be tough...I remember last year well.
  6. As a very loyal NS fan I have a very obvious opinion about how good our team is, but I will not express it on this post. I do, however remember all of the "unbiased" posts from last year about how weak our district is and how the 13AA girls were going to sweep the region. New year....same ole song I am hearing. If u don't think we know our region is weak, you're wrong. That's why we try to pick up teams such as McNairy Co. to play to test our skills. And in fact you havent heard, we beat them by large margins both times we played this year. But really, it's okay with us that you keep believing we are weak and the polls are wrong, please do, that's what we want. Let's just let the games be played and stop trying to make our own polls because our team is not ranked where we want them to be.
  7. Congrat's to Anna and her family. You are a great bball player, but you were also a very good softball player back in the ol' Diamond days. Best of luck to you in the future. God Bless You. (Diamonds #22 & Family)
  8. At the Jackson North Side - McNairy Co. game at McNairy. It was McNairy's homecoming and it was a great atmosphere.
  9. Poston is a junior, but you are right, she is a D1 prospect. Cricket Glenn from TCA is a great sophomore player as well as Morgan Faulkner from Madison. Morgan made the state tournament team last year as a freshman.
  10. Look at Region 7AA with Obion Co., North Side, Westview, and Milan all in top 10.
  11. The point is that there is no purpose for the rule if it is not being called. It is the officals job not to let games get out of hand. Their calls affect how physical the game will be played which can effect the chance of injury for players. I am waiting for the day when the officals get sued for letting games get out of hand causing some player to get hurt. Since most teams film their games, there would be evidence to support such a claim. Don't get me wrong, I am all for the girls game being played more aggressively and I in no way want to go back to the old 3 on 3 days. But the intentional foul is to try to keep players from getting hurt and it is not being called in those situations. Whether it is a boys or girls game, this call is for the players protection.
  12. Tonight in the Jackson North Side - Middleton Girls game there was a very obvious intentional foul...well, to everyone but the officals. When going in for an uncontested, fast-break lay-up and the trailer for the other team pushes you in the back without even making a move on the ball - that is intentional. If this is never going to be called in the right situation, then why have the call in the first place?
  13. Jackson Christian School
  14. I was at the 1A game yesterday and was surprised that Jackson Christian had so many more fans that Friendship Christian. I also think the numbers reported on thiis site are low. How can they keep accurate numbers since the stadium wasn't cleared between games and some stayed for both - I know my son and his friend stayed for the AA game.
  15. The North Side Lady Indians are once again looking good, even though it is early in the season. First real challenge will be this Friday against Dyersburg. Good luck on a great season.
  16. Good Luck to the Pats tonight. Take care of business and make it to the Boro. Keep representing the region well. Best of Luck to you.
  17. I, too, believe that students should have discount tickets. At our High School, there is no discount for students, but student athletes get in all athletic events for free, excluding playoffs anf tournaments. We also have started a spring fling day in which all spring sports play at home on a Sat. and everyone gets into all games for one admission price - this has worked well. I would also like to see football players able to get into other football playoff games for free after they have finished their season. Our school did not make the playoffs, but my son likes to go and support the teams from our region that did. It would be a small appreciation to him from the TSSAA for all he did throughout the regular season. This should apply to all sports, not just football. I do not really know a lot about who sets the price of admission, but I believe that the TSSAA could make some suggestions to member schools to encourage student body support of the athletic program. The way I see it, if we lower the ticket price that gives the kids more money to spend on concessions and spirit wear. The school will be able to re-coup a lot of the money lost on discounted ticket prices.
  18. Jackson North Side's is named after Thurman D. Reynolds, a former coach and principal at North Side. He is still living, but not in great health. He can no longer attend games, but still supports the football program.
  19. I have 4 kids in public schools, but I am for JCS all the way. It sounds to me like Lake Co. is expecting to lose and is getting the excuses already out. To me it is no longer an issue in this state because of the multiplier. The only division that private schools really excel in sports outside of Division II is in 1A. Get over it and play ball...may the best team win.
  20. OK YANKER, the next thing is that you will be wanting a pup, too.
  21. HC hasn't looked past teams all season and I don't think they will start now. I was counting on them doing just that against North Side when they had every reason to and the Pat's proved me wrong. I believe they will stay focused and beat Fairley by 17. Go Pat's!!! Represent our region !!!!! And don't prove me wrong this time either.
  22. JCS has been impressive this season. Yes, they had a rough start. But now, when it matters, the team seems to have come together to play some great ball. Fowler has settled into the QB position and the defense has really tightened up. Can this team go all the way????
  23. Congrat's to the Pats !!!! I hope you ate some turkey legs for all of us who didn't go. Keep up the hard work. You are representing our region and your school well.
  24. The NS coaching staff not only has talked with the HC coaches, they gave them 3 tapes since tape swapping is taboo in the Memphis area. We are doing our part to support the region. I am thinking about coming up there for this game, but I might wait until the week when HC plays Munford if all teams take care of business. I want to see the game and the battle of the bands.
