  1. HC will have NO problem this Friday night against East. East got two quick scores against North Side and after that the game was even - probably alittle edge would even go to North Side. But East can score quickly on the big play...they live and die by it. Anybody who thinks HC cannot play in cold weather was not at the HC - North Side game on Friday. That weather was TERRIBLE and HC dominated every aspect of the game. Their fans are so faithful that we invited the HC fans to come and sit in the NS because the rain was blowing in their faces and they wouldn't move. Good luck to Henry County.
  2. Congrats to Henry County on the win. I have been unable to post like I normally do...and boy what did I miss????? Does someone need to have their mouth washed out with soap????? I hate that I missed the post before it was taken off. Henry County played a GREAT game in the most TERRIBLE weather I have sat out in for years. Everything that I have heard about HC is true and you should go far in the playoffs. Good luck. The season is now over for my Indians, but hopefully I will be able to see my kid play at the next level, we will have to see how things work out for him. But I will still be following my Indians because the spirited ballboy is my kid also (and he takes his job very seriously as you saw Friday nite). I just wished the conditons were better last Friday so I could have actually enjoyed watching Will play his last game, but at least I will never forget it either. Henry Couonty - You are the real deal. You have a great team and a great fan base. I look forward to hearing GREAT things from you in the playoffs. Now I will start spending more of my time on the Girl's Basketball forum to support my Lady Indians (I have one of those, too). Best of Luck to the Patriots!!!!!
  3. In Madison County, students who attend Madison Academic Magnet can play football at JCM since Madison does not have a football team
  4. JCM and North Side both had 1 region win, but since NS beat JCM, then North Side places before JCM in the standings.
  5. I am predicting a sweep in the first round by region 7 - 4A. Anybody in the region agree????
  6. Hardin Co. has a good shot at taking down Melrose
  7. Gwen Delk - Jackson North Side Chantel Poston - Milan
  8. So the region finished like this: 1. Munford 2. Henry County 3. Brighton 4. Hardin County 5. North Side 6. JCM Wow! What a year for the region. Talk about going from first to last and from last to first. It was a wild ride this year. The region was more evenly matched than it has been in years. No team could overlook anybody - on any given Friday night anything could happen. Best of luck to the playoff bound teams, I know you will represent our region well. Still very sad that my Indians could not pull out the important win when necessary, but I'm very proud of my boy and the rest of the team...I hope the improvement carries to next year, but there are a lot of senior shoes to fill. But I will still get to follow the team since the all important ballboy is mine also. I look forward to seeing and hearing great things from the playoffs. Represent us well.
  9. Ya'll should know where my loyalty lies, but a win this Friday will be BIG for the Indians, but it doesn't mean much unless the cougars lose to Hardin Co, which you JCM fans are trying hard to prevent. JCM has their fate in their hands more than we do, but they shouldn't take Hardin Co. lightly. I think it's funny that no Henry Co. people have posted on this board. I know their coaches went to Memphis to see East last Friday, maybe they forgot about this game in HC land.
  10. When my son played for Tigrett Middle School we played Grove and they drilled us. I talked to some fans from Grove and they said that many of the players would probably quit and not play high school ball. Did HC used to have a problem with carrying players over from Middle school to high school before Coach G came along? I, too, believe that sometimes a "winning tradition" can be overrated. In Jackson the "winning tradition" of USJ has been a joke on many occasions because of the competition they play in their nonregion games. Their nonregion games are still basically the single A teams they used to play, and now those single A teams are beating them so their tradition is faltering. Other teams of that quality, like JCS, try to strengthen their team by playing competition that tests their team, such as DCA and South Side. Coach Massey at North Side believes that the way to improve is to test your limits and play the tough competition in nonregion games. That is why we had Fairley scheluded for a few years and now play Memphis East. Plus we continue to keep South Side on our schedule. Say what you want to about classifications, but you play a South Side, Crockett County, or Milan is a non region match-up, your team is going to be put to the test whether your AAAA or AAAAA.
  11. Basically, our defense didn't play well the second half. I will give their coaches credit, they made adjustments during halftime that stopped our running game and our defense had trouble with their misdirection offense. We were ahead and just broke down. Hopefully we can get back to winning. We have Liberty this week before getting Henry Co. our last game. Congrats to Munford. You represent your school well.
  12. Isn't that typical of Jerry Hayes? I have heard that he has a reputation for running up the score and not subbing. He is going to get someone hurt someday though, and he sure can't afford it at this time of the season. He has a team that can go far, possibly all the way.
  13. Being a NS fan, I hope the playoffs don't turn out this way. But using my head instead of my heart, I would say that the odds are in favor of this being the region 7 list anyway. I have heard on this forum that the Memphis region is down, but since our game with Mphs. East I can tell you that if they do finish 3rd, then we had better be ready for some competition come playoff time. And the rules do change down there. We had a great catch in that game and the refs called it incomplete because we didn't have two feet in bounds - it took us off the the 1 yd. line and took away a 1st and goal. The truth is that we did have 2 feet in anyway -so watch out when playing in Mphs. East still has big linemen and fast receivers and backs, plus a quarterback that can throw 50+ yds. easily. I do think that this year region 7 has been very competitive from top to bottom. Yes, Munford has been a big surprise, but Coach Massey said they could win the region after scouting them on week 0 - he knew they were that good. Even though my Indians haven't had the season I hoped for, they are still much improved and are competitive every game. JCM has disappointed many, but have the talent to win at any time. So watch out - the season is not over and anything can still happen. GO INDIANS !!!!!!!
  14. Good luck to both teams tonight. I hope both teams play well and the game is injury free. Does HC have a radio station that broadcasts the games for those of us who will be elsewhere? I doubt I will be able to get the game in Brighton, but I will try.
  15. Don't forget that the Bear coached at Union University when they had a football team also.
  16. I hate that I will have to miss this game, but I will be in Brighton seeing my Indians get into the playoffs with a win over Brighton (if the officials stay out of the way). After the way the JCM - Brighton game went last year and even the fight that Brighton started at the NS game last year - you never know when you play that bunch. I truly believe we can beat them. It still baffles me that if Hogsett and Hardin are so good, then why aren't they carrying the ball on offense as well? I know someone once said that Hogsett fumbled on his first carry his sophmore year and hasn't ran the ball since, but that was two years ago. Does he not deserve a second chance? It seems to me that JCM wastes these two talented boys by playing them on D only. NS beat JCM because we played TEAM ball and JCM didn't. Yanker, you don't have to run through Hogsett. You just have to contain him and run around him. I think the HC coaches will have a good game plan and containing him and Hardin will be a major part of it. IF JCM decides to play these two boys on offense, I think JCM might can make a game of it. JCM is now fighting to make it into the playoffs and they better try something new and that nobody has seen from them to pull off a win at HC. I hope I can get radio reception in Brighton. What station will the game be carried on?
  17. I haven't seen HC play this year, but of course I have seen JCM. The JCM offense had a terrible time scoring against North Side, and unless they have made significant changes, they will against HC also. Hogsett and Hardin are good players, but they cannot do it all. They are good at guessing the snap count and we had to change our pattern a few times because of this. They will blitz a lot, but the change of the snap count kept them more "honest". The offense had one threat - #11. He has speed and can avoid tackles, but he was all that impressed me on offense. I was unimpressed with both the O and D lines for JCM. The recievers are quick, but they pushed off and got interference called at a critical time and should have had it called another time. Sorry Yanker, but a sophmore back can have a good game against JCM...ours did. Hogsett also has a nagging injury that gives him trouble at times - I don't believe he is 100% still. I wish both teams best of luck and may the best team win ( Sorry Yanker, even you said the best team was HC)
  18. I am sooooo proud of the Indians, but the rest of the season does concern me. I think that Humboldt and JCM took for granted that NS would be an easy win and looked past us to other games. That will no longer happen and NS must be ready for every game they play. The boys took the Hardin Co. loss hard and have been able to build off of that. We must play good ball at East. Even though it is not a region game, it can show us how the other region will look for playoffs. Is that region really as down as people are saying??? I don't know. What I do know is that a win will do bunches for our confidence and a loss will have us regrouping before a big region game against Brighton.
  19. OK, I dug this off of page 2 because I would like some feedback. Has anyone out there seen East this year? Am I the only Indians fan out there???????????
  20. I don't really know anything about East this year, except I hear that the program is down. I do know they still have good athletes, not all left - but I know nothing about the coach. What do the Indians have to do to win this one?
  21. You are so right, just look at the predictions for the NS - JCM game last week. Just one of the many examples of that is why we play the game. But aren't you suppose to be in school? Is coach T a new subject at HC high?
  22. Don't worry about it being homecoming, that just make the win that much sweeter...ask any North Side fan. I always rather play good competition than have a runaway game. But do stay focused and take care of business - that is the main thing. This should be a great game! Have fun on Friday nite.
  23. Thanks...it's great to be back!!! GO INDIANS !!!!!!!
  24. Aren't you suppose to be in school at this time?????
