  1. They do it for the same reason a good pitcher throws a 3-2 change up for a called strike 3...... Its all about putting them on their heels.....................
  2. I started buying my Radar Guns from Mid TN years ago so they would be more reliable. That way when I tell people DD is throwing 45 they will believe me roflol.gif Just poking some fun with you. Nothing drives crazy more than hearing all these rumors of pitchers throwing mid to high 60's. I retired my gun years ago, dont even know if it still works. I could care less how hard my pitchers are throwing, DD included. For the most part I can tell what they are throwing by watching them but as we all know it takes more than speed to make a pitcher a true force on the mound. That statement is what I like to see more of........ People put to much emphasis on speed. The only gun I would be interested in would be one that clocks the spin on a ball. Good hitters T off on girls that have radar gun tottin daddys and mommys sittin in the stands. Ill take an mid 50 pitcher that throws junk over a flamethrower any day. Mr. knowitall That's a pretty impressive finish for the 16's from their showing from 2007 when they were 14's and finished 33rd. As for STL being affiliated with the 14's. It really doesn't matter. He inferred that E Tn pitchers were overrated and I provided proof that our E TN girls are underrated. He is part of the Xplosion organization and well, the rest is well in the trophy case........................ Next time your up this way........ Wanna see what a National Championship ring looks like? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  3. No I think you got all of them................. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  4. Hey blueladysuzie, I wouldn't put much stock in what STL has to say....... He speaks of domination in his area, but yet his travel team organization cant beat a team comprised of NE Tenn/SW VA, NW NC girls........ http://www.usfastpitch.com/national/2007ws/aworld.htm http://www.usfastpitch.com/national/2007ws/a/14u-a-1.jpg Look who finished first in the 14U A and look who tied for 33rd......... HMMMMM........

  8. Faithful, I didnt really see any WOW factor this weekend. I was very disappointed in what I saw with Unicoi. I heard that East High beat them on Monday night. The Davey Crockett blonde pitcher has gotten better. Tennessee High isnt that good. Virginia High didnt impress me, but I was told that they has some 8th graders playing. I was impressed by the little pitcher that they had. She is a tiny little thing but she moved the ball around nice, had pretty good spped and was very accurate and had a pretty decent changup. I would have to say I was impressed with her the most out of all the pitchers I watched. I know the Sullivan North Coaches were impressed with her. Like I said before. Your 3rd basemen is a gamer. I guess I would have to say that out of all the girls I seen this weekend your 3rd basemen and the little pitcher from Va High were the best I seen.
  9. A very strong Abingdon team? 16 to 0 is not what I call a challenge....... They are picked to place 3rd in their conference out of 4 teams. I watched your team at the Unaka Jamboree. I didnt see any WOW factor. They only thing that impressed me about your team was the 3rd basemen.
  10. My daughters JV team has 28 games scheduled. They even went to a tournament at Myrtle Beach with the Varisty team to play in a JV tournament. They also have a local JV tournament that is scheduled for the last weekend of April. I think a good coach would want his up coming players to get as much playing time as they can. Since JV teams has no restrictions on the amount of games played, they should play as many as they can schedule.
  11. If the illegal pitch was not called the first inning the girl pitched...... Then it shouldnt have been called in the 7th inning. What happened was, instead of letting the girls decide the game. Blue decided the game. Very unfortunate.
  12. Why isnt Va. High coming back? I was wanting to watch that 8th grader pitch again.
  13. Seen both games last night. From what I have seen so far. Unicoi County is the most fundamentally sound team I have seen as of yet. I have never seen a girls high school softball team that has the mechanincs of college baseball players when they swing the bat. Whoever has worked with those girls needs to step up and tip their hat. I cant see them being shut down by any team in this area. I caught a few innings of the Happy Valley Va High game. Apparantly Va Highs Varsity pitcher is injured and they are using an 8th grader in the preseason. From what I watched, that young lady will be one to watch when she is in high school. She only had one base runner reach and that was from an error from the second baseman. Overheard someone talking about seeing her pitch at Science Hill the other day and that she really did a good job against them. She had one mistake and it cost her but other than that she kept them off balance. That is saying a lot about a pitcher if she can keep Science Hill off balance. Like Unaka that team is a well coached fundamentally sound team. Great job ladies. It is refreshing to see some talent in this area and it speaks of the hard work these young ladies are putting into getting better.
  14. Who is at the Unaka Scrimmage today. I heard that Happy Valley, East and Va. High is going to be there. Anyone know what time and who plays who?
  15. Heard that Va high had to pitch an 8th grader in the Jamboree at JC last weekend? From what I hear she held her own and even did a lot better than some of the varsity pitchers. Heard they also had to use her at Science Hill yesterday. Anyone hear how she did or know who she is?
