  1. Two defensive TD called back didn't help matters. Pretty much gift wrapped it with those and poor special teams play. Good game by Blount, though. Great game to watch and be part of. Heritage didn't win, but they are not the Heritage of old.
  2. And that program at Catholic began to go down the toilet that season
  3. Gotta call you out on this because I believe Tommy Rewis won more games and has coached at heritage longer than any coach since Danny Wilson.
  4. Knowing what I know about coach Hammontree, his kids will have flushed tonight by the time they hit the practice field on Monday. The previous coaching staff allowed the '09 team to be cocky and the D-1 athlete you reference was not utilized to allow that team to capitalize on his talent and playmaking ability. I do not expect a blowout, but do expect the Mountaineers to win. Maybe then they might garner the respect they have worked so hard to earn since day one of the Hammontree era.
  5. I think you are correct. Except the reality is the Govs are on a downward spiral. How has W-B been competitive? South Doyle basically blew out Hardin Valley tonight, yet you said after week 1 that they were not that good after soundly beating Heritage. When you win a game I, for one, will be complementary of the Govs and I would like to think you could return the courtesy to HHS! Good luck the rest of the season, but be ready for another loss next Friday.
  6. Bruce and company will be hard to contain, but Heritage can spread the ball around to several playmakers. Don't see many three- and- outs for either team in this one. Should be a fun game to watch.
  7. Flying under the radar - did well tonight in scrimmage vs Pigeon Forge. Lots of work to do before South Doyle, but there are some offensive weapons on the field.
  8. Heritage and Seymour did not go to OT last season and they were in pretty good games with South Doyle, Bearden, and Lenoir City - oh, and William Blount. Using the logic of some, HHS could have been 4-6 or 5-5 instead of 1-9. I don't expect a playoff run or anything like that, but the Mountaineers will compete this year. They are taking steps toward being a solid program.
  9. I have known coach Hammontree for more than thirty years. He will demand the work ethic required to build the program back to respectability. Now, will they win a state championship? I can't say that, but they will not be a patsy for 8-9 teams on their schedule. The man has his kids believing they will turn it around sooner rather than later. That's not happened at Heritage in a while.
  10. Heritage did well at MC 7 on 7, however, the competition was not the strongest. Still, the kids gained some more confidence and numbers are really up this summer. One earlier post alluded to the previous coach doing a good job. I tend to disagree for the simple fact that coach Hammontree basically started from ground zero. The other coach put little to no emphasis on the freshman/JV and it has shown. Many times the freshmen would not even practice. HHSis on the rise and will be competitive with most this season. They are more athletic all around than they have been in several years. The staff has started with a plan and have not wavered from it. Bash away.
  11. Maryville 1-0 over William blount
  12. Pretty sure nobody from HHS has had a chuckle about your Govs on this thread so why the hate on the Mountaineers?
  13. I do believe that Brodus attended a county middle school prior to starting high school at Alcoa.
  14. Not an IMAC follower really, but get to see some games from time to time. Did Seymour lose anything from last season? I have seen South DOyle scrimmage and they appear to be improved. Not sure about Jeff. Co. or anybody else right now.
  15. Our school's pre-season (scrimmage) stats are not totalled with other games. Tournament stats are included, however. I agree with another poster that stated how much really goes into "keeping the book" and one that should not be taken lightly. There are books and web-sites that offer tips and suggestions about rulings, etc. Our boosters bought an ipad last year and purchased an app called "espn iscore" and it is a life-saver! Totals everything for you and stats can be uploaded directly to your computer and/or unapproved website. I highly recommend it.
