  1. She will be eligable. Do people really think parents with kids of this caliber transfer without checking everything out first? This was months in the making and all the bases have been covered.
  2. My point if you can understand it is simple...kids are being cheated out of great coaches because you have to be a teacher to be apart of a sports team. I assume your a teacher? Why do teachers expect a raise every year when the students in tennessee have some of the lowest scores in the nation? I would consider that a failure and in most jobs when you fail you get fired but teachers get tenure.
  3. So what does having a teaching degree have to do with ones ability to coach. Teachers have struggled with "respect" for years and your implying that it is because of volunteer coaches? The problem with high school sports in Tennessee is that you have to be a teacher to be a coach. Their are many dads/moms that coach in the community parks that know more about their specific sport than the high school coach in many communities!
  4. I agree Dirk, another mistake by Halls Administration. When Moore came to Halls he stated he was glad not to be coaching 2 teams and didn't want to do it again. It looks like Halls took the easy way out again and hired the coach that required the least amount of paperwork! Also, everyone keeps saying we have a young team. Halls will always have a young team because by the time the girls are jrs. and srs. they have all quit playing basketball.
  5. They had 4 applicants, 1 is obvious(Brook) and the other 3 i dont know. The new coach is rumored to be a transfer from North Carolina...Denny??? I cannot remember if that is his first name or last. The announcement will be made later in the week. The delay has been caused from paperwork since he is coming from another state, at least thats the word I'm hearing. Anyone else heard that?
  6. Did you play in the 12U state tourney? It seems if you were looking for "competation" that would be a good place to start. Their are several good local teams,---Tenn. Threat, Lady Trotters Gold, KGC(2nd in State). Look for tourneys they are playing in and I'm sure you will see how you "stack up." Best of Luck!
  7. Halls girls basketball has many problems: #1 Their is no starter program. The Jr. Pro program is horrible! 1 hr a week for practice on half a court. Basically the kids get 10 hrs of practice for the season on 1/2 court. #2 To much parent envolvement from the middle school level and higher. Once your kid reaches the middle school team parents should no longer be apart of the program. Parents need to realize that not every child is going DI...how many girls from Halls have ever gone D1? #3 Parents are not realistic about what the program can do! If Pat Summit was coaching the team last year, how many games would they have won? Talent level at the high school level is weak because it hasnt been developed. No matter who the coach is they will have to spend 3/4 of the season working on basic fundamentals because their is no feeder program for Halls. #4 You cannot change a program that has been unsuccessful for nearly a decade in 1 year! 5 coaches in 6 years, it seems like the school lets each senior class pick a new coach! Lets get a coach who will stay with the program for 8-10 years, let him/her be involved in the Jr. Pro process, the middle school, and see what happens! Halls was once a sports power house and now it is slipping away! Not just in girls basketball but every sport. Its seems like every week you hear of a Halls player transfering to another school. Some of the best players in several sports in Knox county started in Halls.
