  1. Great discussion and I don't think TSSAA will sanction anytime soon. Too much on their plate as many have listed in other posts and too many issues. Private Schools are better because of better resources, more money and coaching. The bigger problem exists with feeder programs, long term stability of coaching and continuous stable resources at those levels. MBA, and the other private schools have enormous amounts of resources, money, talented and paid coaching staffs and years of stability. They have similar resources at their middle school AND EARLIER levels. Until public schools match that level of money, facilities, coaching and steady feeder programs their ability to compete with the KINGS of lacrosse will be limited. Also, many quotes about Franklin being around as a long term program and why not playing Div 1? The facts: Franklin is in its third year of competition and with its second coach. The kids at that school started with 6 upperclassmen and 16 Soph and Frosh three years ago and have improved because of the time playing together and the ability to get better by having more playing time. Hardly a long term program when considering the other schools in Div 1 and Div2.
  2. Where are the games to be played? What time and day? Thanks in advance!
  3. How is it determined which teams play each other in the semi-finals? Win/ Lost or Lax Power Rating or ?
  4. Taylor Malone #5 face off middie for Franklin is pound for pound one of the best players in the state. While not caring much weight or size, he can destroy a defense with his quickness and is an excellent defender as well. He has a big motor and never gives up on any play. I like to refer to him as Mighty Mite. Also Austin Breckenridge #21 sophomore attack is overpowering and very quick for his size. He had three of Franklin's first four goals in the first half versus Ravenwood. Before running out of gas and playing a much higher rated and skilled Ravenwood team, Austin showed why he will be a force to be dealt with over the next few years.
  5. As I have said in a post above, I do not agree with anything this player said; however, i do admire the courage to admit he was wrong and to apologize. As a retired Army officer, I have found that life is not determined by how many times you fall down in life. Rather, life success is determined by how you take falling down and what you do when you get up! This young man's poor choice of words do not represent the Franklin Rebel team, nor the true sportsmanship that they have shown this season. One can appreciate that words can hurt and that this sport is the ultimate in teaching young men and women discipline and professionalism. I admire and appreciate this spirit provided by all coaches and mentors in this sport. I think this subject has run its course so lets get back to playing ball.
  6. I do not appreciate the first comment above! Please identify yourself and what team you play for or support. Your comment was totally uncalled for and would hope you would respect the sport, your own team and other people in general. As a Franklin parent, I appreciate the professional way that lacrosse is coached and played. All of the teams that Franklin has played thus far have played hard and with passion. Franklin lacrosse is in its third year of competition. Not so long ago, like all the teams in Division 2 worked to get better each and every week. Most of the teams we played the first year beat us twice in the regular season. One of the reasons for the improvement was that many of the seniors, at least 12 on the varsity alone played together as Frosh (JV) and have played together since their Frosh year. Having them all play together and in the same system has allowed them to have great depth and experience. Next year will be a different story. They will have some lumps to take and will have to play their best to make the playoffs and be competitive in the final four. As far as Ravenwood goes, they have proven to be one of if not the best teams in the state! They are even competitive outside the state. We are honored to have the opportunity to play such a great team and try to get better. Franklin has constantly admired and modeled our program after there fine example. Ravenwood should be what all Div 2 teams would hope to do! Move to Division 1 and be competitive. They have done this and more and one of the teams who are favorites to compete for the Division 1 Championship. Again, I take offense to your post and would be glad to discuss with you further if you would like. The sport of lacrosse will only continue to grow if we can respect and assist each other along the way. If this did come from a Franklin player then grow up and retract this unprofessional statement.
  7. Anyone know how many seniors Webb and West Knox have leaving? They appear to have some good coaching so that East Division may be murderer's row like the Central Division was this year.
  8. I think Cookeville will be the up and coming team in D II. It would be hard to believe that Williamson County will not be there in the end with Franklin and Brentwood. Franklin only loses three seniors, with the most notable being all state selection Trey Haley. Trey may have been the best D Pole in Division II but plenty more standing in the wings to take his place. Franklin has 12 rising seniors and a strong junior class next year. They only lose one starting defensemen and 1 middie. It will make for an interesting year!
