  1. I personally think Gville and Clay are both better than Murphy, but I guess we'll know for sure Friday.
  2. Since Sp fans have been giving their keys to winning.... Gville will have to be as physical and high motored as they have been. If they do that, SP will have a hard time blocking them, and if they've had the penalty troubles like y'all have let on, that will get exploited. Pressure from the defensive front is key. On offense, I think we can hit some plays in the pass game, but I think we need to run the ball physically. Personally, I'd love to see us just line up in the I and pound it. We have to be able to run the ball to win, imo. In the pass game, we need to be patient and take what we're given and hit the long ball when available.
  3. Nevermind him. He's from Carthage and doesn't know any better.
  4. Nah, Gville has won more in recent years. It's amazing how you Carthage folks forget last year and the year before... Personally, I think it will be great to be in the same region, and I firmly believe the win streaks that happened in the past will be more rare going forward.
  5. Oh, I don't doubt it. I think we will be 2A eventually. How soon is the question. Our growth has exploded the last couple of years.
  6. It might, and might not. We increased by 50 students in 2 years, and we'll have a similar number in 2 years, but it's likely to drop a little in the classification after.
  7. The 2006 team had the athletes and they showed it the next year. FWIW, that Gville team was good enough to go deep as they lost in the second by one point to Friendship who ended as the runner up. So, there was no shame in losing to that Gville team.
  8. You may be right. We play quite a bit more younger kids than I expected we would coming into this season, especially since we only lost 3 starters on each side of the ball. They have gained quite a bit of experience that will only help in the coming years, so, hopefully we won't have the dropoff we did in 2013 after losing a comparable number of seniors.
  9. Hope so. Nah. We're playing a couple freshmen as well.
  10. BTW, no one at the Tennessean is expecting anyone to stop SP until the finals.
  11. This seems to be a perennial playoff matchup. Gville hasn't won since 2012, and we have a senior heavy team like that year. The key for Gville is to show the physicality that they've displayed the past couple weeks
  12. What? You don't want Gville to have a chance to avenge Friday's loss?
  13. You're right, I don't really mind the trip, but I prefer when you guys come to see me.
  14. He signalled first down. I've just never seen that called. I've seen spiking the ball called and it was called in Friday's game, but never signalling a first down.
  15. To answer your question, I don't have to worry about anything. However, as far as the rematch, I did say we would have to get the SP monkey off our back, so I wasn't guaranteeing anything.
  16. These two are playing for a chance to play SP at SP, that is, unless RBS beats them, which I would welcome, not because I don't want to play them. I just don't want to drive down there.
  17. What were the adjustments that TC made on offense last night?
  18. Congrats Clay... As a Gville fan, I feel pretty good about the possible rematch, but we have to get the SP monkey off our back first. I feel like Clay had to empty out the toolbox and this game took a lot out of them. They were gassed in the 4th, and we were able to do things in the run game later in the game that we weren't able to earlier. I feel like we stifled Clay's offense, but they hit a couple of plays that helped them, like the rb pass that set up their last TD, and of course the pick 6. To simplify the outcome to a couple of things...the pick 6 was huge, as was the unsportsmanlike on our last drive when it would have been 1 st and goal from the 2. I've NEVER seen that on called, especially in that situation. For those wondering, our back pointed with one finger signalling 1st down. BUT, you can't let a game come down to one or two plays or calls. Either way, Clay needs to enjoy the region championship, and I sincerely hope we end their season in the 3rd round in Celina.
  19. We do have 20 seniors and around 70 players overall. Many of the seniors have started since they were freshmen. Most of our players don't play both ways. Some of the skill players do, but none of the linemen do.
  20. In a 3 way tie, when the top team is decided due to overall record, the other two teams reverts to head to head.
  21. Both teams return a lot, but Gville is a completely different team. Players are in different positions and more players are seeing the field as not many play both ways. We lost 3 starters on each side of the ball, but more are playing that didn't play much last year Gville has struggled with injuries this year, but we're healthier now, for the most part.
