Way things are going statewide I don't see Metro schools changing. I see where schools in Georgia and Alabama are even pushing back starting .

Any other systems going to be postponed or shutting down ? This craziness needs to stop. Already have teams starting late and missing games. Teams missing games due to others not being able to play their opponent. Metro as of today missing 5 games but a proposal to only miss 3 games will be discussed this week. I feel for kids and coaches not knowing when they will play and how to practice with no pads or contact,

I have heard metro coaches and athletic directors at each high school are presenting a plan to begin sports earlier than the plan now. Probably will fall on deaf ears though. This plan allows for first game to be Sept. 11th and contact practice to begin the 17th of Aug. Still missing first 3 games.

Schools shutting down their football programs is not a positive sign for season. I think we have some systems who are looking for any reason to shut down sports and extra curriculum activities.

Metro is first to shut down, I hear this does not apply to Private schools I am hearing Memphis and Clarksville are next. Knoxville and Chattanooga are in the talk. Surprises to me are Williamson and Rutherford counties. I wish decisions would be made by letting everyone play and at least see how things actually work out.

I think the privates can still practice just like the rest of the state. This only applies to all metro school sports and extra curricular activities.

That why I am a big believer in athletes playing every sport in every season. Enhances and works different set of muscles and skills which have carry over and value .

Coaches and players are practicing football with no contact allowed preparing to play August 21 if the governor lifts his ban for contact to begin August 30th and first game Sept. 18th. I personally believe the ban will not be lifted because of media news about covid 19 numbers. So players and coaches are trying to practice a contact game with no contact not knowing if ban will be lifted and regular schedule taking place. How are coaches and kids asked to do this not knowing if first game is in 4 weeks or 8 weeks away and if games are going to be played at all. Players and teams testing positive and having to play with kids not ready to play against a very good team or having a no contest. How is this fair to either teams. I think when it gets down to a decision having to be made the season will be cancelled . I think the decision has already been made just not being being told to the public. This is the ultimate tease and unfair . i suggest the ban be lifted and begin season August 21st. and make decisions accordingly.

This thread is about whether high schools will have football. Nothing else. Looking good at times and then sometimes looks like no way.

I wish they would just proceed like nothing wrong and then make decision off how things are going. Same for school systems . Almost like doing things backwards.

I agree. Admin at TSSAA and school systems make decisions off these headlines not your statistics and data

Opinion: After a jarring 24 hours in college sports, football season is in big trouble. Tennessean article. If colleges do not have sports you can be sure high schools will follow. I hope this doesn't happen.
