  1. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it Pruitt that canceled the first game and then refused to reschedule it.
  2. I've seen some large crowds over the years and that one stands out to me also. The 2011 crowd that traveled to Gordonsville was impressive for an away game. I've only gotten to see a handful of games since 2014 but I try to make the big games and a playoff game or two.
  3. Yes, that game. This was a few years ago that Vic told me that so there could have been a larger crowd since then.
  4. Heck, Jasper couldn't fill their stands at the game against SP this year. I don't think they will travel to Whitwell to watch a game. There will be a lot of students and players there but I don't think the fans will show up in force.
  5. A few years ago Vic told me the 2010 was the biggest since he has been involved. He said there were a little over 6,000 paid and a few hundred that didn't pay.
  6. No, you won't find any parents helping. My youngest girl plays softball for that Grider man and no one is allowed on the field unless your are a coach. We are told that before each season.
  7. Thanks. That's what I thought about the blocked punt. My other question about the rugby style punt is how do you determine that the punter is indeed kicking it and it's not a fake? When is it ok to tackle him? Does the receiving team have to wait until he crosses the LOS? I've learned a lot reading this post. I've found you can't use your knowledge of NCAA or NFL rules while watching high school ball.
  8. On a rugby style punt can roughing the kicker be called? Also, on a blocked punt can the kicking team advance the ball?
  9. "If everything that is being brought to light really happened, my question to Marion County High administrators is, 'Why should you continue to have a football program?'" Wow is all I can say.
  10. Just saw this on Twitter. New story on Marion football program situation will be posted online within 10 minutes. Sorry for the delay
  11. Well, sometimes the BS just gets too deep.
  12. Yes there is. Winning is nice but there is a lot more to life than high school football. This may be the most intelligent thing you have ever posted on here, I may have to start paying closer attention to your post. There may be some hidden gems in there I have missed.
  13. How would you feel if someone in your family was accused of doing this by basically a whole town? Then you find out it was done by grown men and that they covered it up and let these kids from SP get the blame. I have daughters that play sports at SP. If one of their coaches did something like this I would be outraged. I said from the beginning it wasn't the paint that was the big problem, it was what was painted. They each deserve what is coming to them.
  14. I had a TSSAA official that was in management at my work tell me they are instructed to keep the games close and try to stop it from being a mercy rule game. He called one of our home games and blew the whistle on an option play when the QB was tackled. The problem was he had already pitched it and the RB had ran 52 yards for a TD. There is some truth in everything yall are posting. I learned a lot of the rules of the high school game that I didn't know and really enjoyed talking football with him though.
