  1. I think the success of the team is almost entirely dependent upon Brady Reed. I also think that the whole purpose of the Owl's season should be to get Jaquez Smith and Sammy Seamster scholarship offers. I also know that this will be the first season of this millennium that I probably won't go see an Ooltewah football game.
  2. Seriously guys, stop being so wimpy. It's very immasculine to flame some kids you don't know anonymously over the internet. Be men for goodness' sake. My predictions for this game goes as follows, based on the Owl's first offensive possesion: Brady Reed Throws a completion for more than 7 yards on one of his first two plays: Owls-28 Bearden-7 Brady Reed Throws a completion for less than five yards on one of his first two plays, or throws 4 incompletions to start the game: Owls-28 Bearden-35 Brady Reed Throws an interception in one of his first five throws: Bearden wins 100% guaranteed. No telling on the score. Brian Marshall runs for negative yardage on two of his first three carries: Owls-7 Bearden-35 Brian Marshall runs for a TD on one of his first three carries: Owls-35 Bearden-31 Otherwise: Trick Play that works for big yardage on the first drive: Owls 28 Bearden-21 Any of our starting linebackers are missing: Bearden by a whole whole lot. But none of it really matters since Riverdale is a near-lock for the state title.
  3. I have disagreed with our coaching many times this year. Notably: Onside Kicks: At Farragut, the Onside kick with three minutes was highly unecessary, and I noted it as such at the time of the kick. 3 timeouts with that much time, just get a stop. If we'd have gotten the ball after the punt at the 35-50 instead of inside the ten, things might have been different. Tonight, we kicked it deep with 4 minutes and 10 points down. Then we didn't call any time-outs when we did stop them, and the players got ticked. Basically, we gave up. Brady Reed: He's a Sophomore, and he doesn't know what he's doing. The first game should've given that away, where he threw two complete ducks to Gino Norwood that were amazing catches. If we're going to use him, let's get some good screen passes going to Swafford and Norwood. Matthew Polk: Extremely underused and quick player. Should've been a one two Warrick Dunn/Jerious Norwood type situation. This could be rubbish though. He never really played much against 1st string or good defenses. I'd still like to see us try a bit more though. The offensive scheme-Marshall has four plays-Swing Pass, Delayed handoff L/R, Shovel Pass, and Outside Toss. How hard can it be to scheme four plays. I'm sure the QB can learn more than that. Plus, with two great Running Backs and Two fast, bruising fullbacks, we could've had solid Wing-T, and used much less passing. Secondary was the reason we didn't win state last year, and not much has improved. I know we have talent, so it must be coaching. The O-line isn't near last year's level either, but I can't fault that too much. We're young. There's a lot of youth out there on the field, but I would've been much more satisfied this year with the 7-2 record we were talented enough to have vs. the 6-3 we're going to get.
  4. If some of you weren't anonymous to this board, you wouldn't say half the crap you do about either team. I would post my thoughts on the game and Ooltewah's players, but it really wouldn't mean anything and no one would read the part about the game anyway.
  5. If you guys want positives from me, then sure. -Swafford has played like an absolute beast the past 3 or 4 games. You can almost expect either a pick or a TD as a guarantee every game from him. -John Long isn't hurt anymore like earlier in the season, and I saw him kick 45 yarders practicing the other day. -Polk is coming along very well, and he's even faster than Marshall. He honestly hasn't pulled a move all year besides following his blocks and blowing by people. -Coach Monroe knows what he's doing now. He admitted that he gave Brady too much responsibility in the WB game, and there's been even more emphasis on rushing since. And even a few cool trick plays. -The secondary is better than last year. Less turnovers forced, but better on coverage (that's throwing out the WB game of course, and admitting that we haven't played a good passing QB). -Jaquez Smith. #36.
  6. I expect a Farragut victory in this game. Ooltewah has pretty bad run defense this year. The offense can get it going as long as they never ever ever ever pass the ball on anything more than a screen play, which Coach Monroe might allow to happen. I can really see this being a 42-35 shootout game, with Sterling and Polk (that's right, Polk and not Marshall) having huge games.
  7. I'm too shortsighted to care how he's going to do in two years. I'm sure he'll be pretty darn good. But it ticks me off that we have weapons on the team in every area except QB this year, and the state title hopes that were promised at the beginning of the year have almost no chance of coming true. I'd be much more lenient on him if we'd won it all last year, like we should have. Honestly I'm ticked even more at Connor for quitting. We need him badly.
  8. I'm 5-10, 135 pounds, a senior, slow, and have no arm. What the Heck do I offer for a football team? I'm smart at least, but that wouldn't be near enough to make up for my lack of any football Athleticism. There. That's why I won't go out and do anything about it.
  9. I hate Brady Reed. He's all talk at school, then he plays like he did Friday. I don't care if he doesn't know the playbook. He missed SOOOOOOOOOOOO many open guys last night. And our best player seems to have quit. This blows. P.S. From anyone worrying, Maryville will still likely beat the Governors. Our team did absolutely nothing to look better than Bradley Central last night.
  10. You'll find that GovMan, but not on this message board. And probably, likely, someone will overreact at the game too, regardless of who wins.
  11. Man, you William Blount guys are pretty much jerks. Just to let you know, because it's true. I know this board is about nothing but trash-talking, but with the Exception of GovMan, you guys really take it further than any other group of fans I've seen. I've heard nothing but degrading remarks about Ooltewah from you guys since even before last year's game, and you don't even take us seriously when you pick your team by 21 pts. I thought I really really hated everyone from Soddy Daisy, but seriously, you guys really take the cake at being total pricks. Congratulations. P.S. On the above post, how can you defend that those penalties didn't happen, when your team has been horrible the last two years about penalties, and averages committing over 60 yards a game?
  12. Since I'm the actual student at Ooltewah, and therefore get all of the juicy rumors... The latest is that one of our players actually won't play. He has been special-teams only at this point, but I'm pretty sure he's a back-up cornerback , Maybe second string. I've heard he might be faced with charges, and I won't mention his name because it's unnecessary. I'll keep posting on this If I hear anything. ................................................................... Anyway, about the game, that's good news for us if Walker's a no-go. We're pretty bad when it comes an opposing team's team's best player (Rod Wilkes killed us, Sterling at least twice, Trace McDermott had an 80 yard TD last year, etc.). P.S. I wish the word "classy" would never be used again on this website.
  13. This is what I've surmised from today. 1. No football players will be suspended. That's my best guess, but it's definately educated. 2. Two former football players were involved. They had been priorly kicked off the team. I won't mention names. 3. There's no way that this is enough distraction to have any impact on this game. If we lose, I won't be making that excuse at all, and no one should. The fact that it's a home game for Blount, and they're loaded with seniors compared to our very youthful squad is a much better excuse for a loss. We are more talented though. I believe right now that we're the better team. I guess I'm that loser that predicts his team getting beaten, and being pleasantly surprised when they aren't. 4. I feel sorry for anyone watching from the 50 yardline on Friday. I can imagine some jarring between the fans, and maybe a bit too much. This series is turning into a rivalry quick.
  14. From what I've heard about the fight at Ridgeland (today at school, ALL OF IT completely baseless word of mouth) -One kid told to me through a football player through an Administrator that Brian Marshall, Garrison Caldwell, Gino Norwood, Jordan Simmons and Nathan Swafford were all involved (all starters) -From a Mom who works in the office, I heard that we probably shouldn't go through it scotch free as one of the Ridgeland kids had to have surgery (unknown as to what). She also claims that there is some sort of visual evidence of the fight. -From Defensive Coordinator Greene, through another student, No football players will be suspended, and only two were involved (the complete opposite of the original, ten people involved reports) -Nathan Swafford stated in class to another one of my friends, when asked, that he was at another one of the player's houses asleep on the couch during the incident. -In a related incident, my English teacher told us how the night before the State Championship game in one of those Cleveland-Benny Monroe years, 4 players were actually arrested. Benny himself bailed them out, and all four played in the game the next day. They won. So basically all I know is that there was indeed some sort of incident, and that this IS SHADY AS FRICK!
