  1. FHSalumn12, playing the best team in the state, regardless of chassidication, is an honor. And, of course, we have not seen a team of your calibre thusfar. But the Rebels will give you their best performance. Are the concessions requisite with the talent? I was thinking...ribs, baked beans, and potato salad? I'm sure whatever you provide will be just fine. Is the new stadium turff or grass? Stupid question I know. I'm sure it is turff. Would prefer grass. Those days are gone... Waiting for Friday!
  2. South is a QB school. They would have cherished a chance to meet Greenville...an old rival. To have the honor of playing Fulton this season is a wondrful opportunity. I'm sure the hope is to show you a respectful challenge that you have not seen this season. South is privy to a wonderful stadium. How is your facility...concrete or steel? South travels well and all look forward to such a contest. Looking forward to seeing such a storried program.
  3. Carter shot themselves in the foot all evening with procedure penalties. Same 2 or 3 defensive players over and over. They were huge! Must be a hoops school. 3 WR's @ 6.5. Didn't see any short guys...except for South. South has speed and Carter couldn't catch it once it broke loose. And it broke loose a few different times from 3 different Rebels. I must say, their wide outs had skills after the catch. South was just a more complete opponent and Carter wasn't prepared for that. But, a week after Fulton would seem to have prepared them better for most anything. Anyway, nice performance Rebels. Congratulations Coaches.
  4. The hangout in years past was not known for it's food. The 'Heights could actually use a new "Rebel Den". Want to go into the restaurant business Pudding? Hard work but lucrative. I hope everyone is healthy.
  5. FHSalumn12 Which is more prominant...your defensive front, or your DB's. I would imagine for a strictly passing team to be shutdown it would mean that the QB didn't have time to accurately place the ball where it needed to be. So is the more dominant reason for the poor passing statistics by Carter a result of one of these issues over the other or a combination?
  6. 2007, 2008, 2013...same MO. As much or more talent than '08. Don't fall into the same trap Coach. Spread it around. Make history.
  7. Woodby, if he is playing tomorrow night in Death Valley then please give us his rundown. After all, if you're a dad you must be proud...right? C'mon, nobody posts as much stuff on here as you have lately without having a personal interest. Trust me...I know. So give it up...we want it all...position, number, grade, size, speed, sexual preference...etc. And if you say his name is Ethan I'll shift gears. S'go...give us supin ta chew on...lay it out Dude!
  8. Woodby, I'm sure your intentions were not our of line. And even if it was a video of your son no harm done. Even though it would have been a bit pretensious. However, it is the common consensus, that Delta Force is a joke. It's hard to improve on perfection.
  9. Delta Force is a joke. It is Daddy Ball to the highest degree. It will be gone in a couple more seasons...and good riddance. Optimist league was never about Daddy Ball. It was (and still is for those that still play in that league) about teaching the kids the fundamentals of the game including the most important part...sportsmanship.
  10. A waning Crescent moon...the hound dogs wail...the Black cats humpbacked creep with raised spinal coat indicative of anticipation for lurking shadows. Vermin scurry deep in the dry granular tundra in search of haven. As the Carter's and Sullivan's prepare for battle and understanding the Black Nite awating them...fearlessly approach their destiny. Having been to Mordor 'er long ago they contimplate the wretchedness of such a war. Hence, war allows one victor...while the other must ride the Black Train of The condemned...and feast on rotten failure of soot-covered evil. Er' to be 'begotten...Evermore
  11. The 'Toppers will play the Indians 5 miles down the road but the Rebel stadium holds twice as many people...and comfortably...so a more enjoyable football experience will be in Death Valley. It will be a classic game to see. This game will be all about defense because we know both sides can move the football. And I'm sure we all hope for a fairly called game. So I guess if there is any smack to be talked it should be the calm respectful comparison of skill, schemes and strength. And the kicking game...which, I'm sure will definately be a factor.
  12. Here you go 'Betsy, your new award coined by a Souther. "Mister Twister"! Wear it well for we will always show respect. You may send all proceeds garnered from the use of this fine accronym to the "Crawdad" in care of "The Spin Doctor" foundation initiated by "The Crowe" owner of the "Raven Group". Rebe Nation
  13. "Mister Twister"...did you just coin that one? I know I've been away a long time but I don't recall that one. That's a classic! "Mister Twister"...that should be an inner-team award come end-of-the season accolades. That's almost as good as "The Spin Doctor"...almost...Ha! "Mister Twister"...Crawdad said it first yall!
  14. I played high school ball with Robbies' Father. The Father was a diplomat. The son learned his trade from Graham Clark. The controvercy is explained by attending any North game while sitting on the North side. Which explains why Southers don't want to merge. The merger is abored by both sides. IMO it would create a very powerful team. But if forced, the North parents will all ship their sons to Gate City leaving the school with a 95% South roster. The merger was put on hold due to protest from both sides. My understanding is South will now merge with Central where South actually came from in the first place. Economically speaking, North and South makes the most sense. Will it happen? DB is bursting at the seams so something must be done. Regardless of which way it goes it will create a Coaches dream. However, the only programs at South that are productive are Soccer, Volleybell and of course Football. Coaches are everything. Stacy should have stayed. The North/South thing goes back as far as the 70's. Seven miles might as well be Bull Run. Central has few coaches in any sport so they would most likely welcome the merger. As far as South @ Greeneville 2008...South was awarded many questionable calls in that game. One which revoked a TD for South. One which awarded Greeneville a TD while the reciever was out of the endzone and two which prevented first downs for South and one which awarded Greeneville a crucial first down. Regardless, it was a great game to watch Woodby.
  15. Well, to be quite honest, there are very few Southers around these parts these days as well. I guess 04' through 09' was Stacy's tenure before exiting to the 'Toppers leaving Haney and Jorden to sort it out. Fact is, Stacy should have hung around. I'm sure the money at the 'Hill was substantial in comparison. And we all like the money. Norths' coach was a 'Raider himself but learned his trade from Mr. Clark. Stacy was the one who brought the Spread to this area and until DB changes its' gameplan to utilize its' talent the one and done mentality will hang like a dark cloud. Stacy has a tremendous talent draw at the 'Hill but I don't think he will ever equall the superior mentality of the South community. And of course the Cyclones and the Greendevils posess that very mentality. It's all about the "Coach".
  16. ...the wind begins to creep as All Halows Eve approaches...the dew of early morn" will turn to frost...darkness will turn to chill and with night of harvest moon. The hour slowly approaches...and closer wretchedness creeps. Prepare your men well for time is short...and anxiety high. For on the day of battle the evil Black Train will await...and alas...Nevermore...
  17. These two communities can be proud of their stature in this sport. Without a great man that we all call "Coach" our young men, past, present and future would have a very mediocre high school experience. The values they are taught in this game by these wonderful men only amplify and reinforce the education our boys are taught. And that is...how to be men. And heaven knows our society needs MEN. So regardless of who wins this game we all can rest assured that these young men will be prepared to run the show someday.
  18. ...I felt a cold shudder...and realized...no train tracks near the track...
  19. Hmmm...maybe that's the game that should be at Bristol Raceway.
  20. Hmmm...I smell a stinch. Alot of train track in them counties. Oh my...
  21. Great post BVDevil! I am trying to make the Greenville game this week to see first hand what the story is. And next week will try to catch Fulton. Too bad I won't be able to catch Fulton the 1st, but I can't miss the Rebels vs Cyclones. I know everyone considers South the weakest link...but time will tell. Two weeks is a long time in this enviornment. Pudding has placed Fulton 3 TD's ahead of South and Greenville @ 10 points above the Rebels and all multiple scores above 'Betsy. Not good enough for me...I want to see them for myself. I have seen 'Betsy...but without their star. Was, I'm sure, a night and day difference. Of course, it was 'Betsy's first time without him so a little shell-shock should have been expected. And yes, the hammer was finally weilded. But, I hope Thomas plays so the outcome will be square. Anyone else seen all four play?
  22. I went to the 'Betsy game tonight to see the great RB. I did not know he was out. I was told for the season. This thread says otherwise. I hope he is OK. I went to see him. Without him...nothing special. I had already considered SS's chances a long shot. However, now that I have seen the windstorm play I must conclude that they are not deep playoff material. They will go down in the first round. And the SS vs 'Betsy game? Currently I must take SS. But we will see. It is said "he" will be back. I hope he heals quickly and can return...we all hate to see great talent injured. I will venture into "Barb-ville" next week to see the Devil. I will have to wear my Confederate Uniform so as not to be mistaken for a homer. Especially a Republican one.
