  1. https://www.facebook.com/PLAYBALL2020 TWO TEAMS NEEDED for tournament MARCH 24 and 25th Perry County High's NFHS -sanctioned BUFFALO RIVER SPRINGFEST invitational softball tournament, takes place this coming Friday, March 24th and Saturday, March 25. The BUFFALO RIVER SPRINGFEST Class A/AA/and AAA tournament, celebrating its 15th year, is the only invitational softball tournament in the state, which does not have any team entry fee, nor any admission cost at the gate for fans attending games. The 15-team tournament has TWO team slots available, at this time. Every team plays four (4) pool games, with the top two teams, from each of the three pools, advancing. Games are 75-minute/finish the inning format, with coin flip determining home team. Our 13 teams confirmed (out of 15 slots), thus far: 1.) Culleoka School (Maury County) 2.) Decatur County-Riverside High 3.) Bruceton Central High (Carroll County) 4.) Halls High (Lauderdale County) 5.) Fairview High (Williamson County) 6.) Tipton-Rosemark Academy (Memphis) (TRA is our defending/2022 champion) 7.) Hickman County High 8.) Trinity Christian Academy (Jackson) 9.) Scotts Hill High (Henderson County) 10.) University School of Jackson 11.) Waterloo School (Alabama) 12.) Houston High (Memphis) 13.) 2. When the new classifications come out soon What do you think will be the Regions in Class 4A?
  3. I need 6th and 7 th grade girls for my AAU team. I have a schedule ready to play. I just need few more good players. I’m only asking 60 dollars just for the uniform.
  4. I’m a first year team looking for 6th and 7th grade girls to make a very good team. The only thing you will have to pay is for your jersey which is 60 dollars. I need really good players that can play. Tryouts are Sunday 7th of March from 2-4 at McFadden Community center Murfreesboro my contact info is 615-596-2254 serious inquires and players that have played before.
  5. It has been said multiple times over the past few years, and after reviewing over the playoff quadrents this saturday, the state playoff have become entirely too watered down. I hate the fact that we have gone to an eight (6 div I, 2 div II) division playoff across the state. Everyone has there own opinion on how to setup the classifications, and I am sure several are better than what we have today. I personally like 5 total classifications and leave it at that. Bring back the privates and use a 2X multipler rule... Better competition, less travel, better atmospheres across the state... If this was in place and you had reduced travel during the regular season you could increase travel in the playoff by breaking the state into two quadrents instead of four allowing teams different competetion as opposed to playing the same district team again in the playoff (example this year class 1A)... This would allow the better teams to have a greater chance at making if further in come playoffs (example CAK/Alcoa). The only issue I believe the T$$AA has with this is $$$... What are your thoughts...?
  6. CPA wore down Independence in a game of talented offenses, bad defenses and worse officiating. Neither team broke 70 although it looked like either could. How in the heck Notre Dame did not honor the scholarship offer to Sheffield benefits Purdue big time. Sheffield and Collier were flying all over the field and if Cash had played like he did v Brentwood last week then might have been a different winner. CPA big guys and backs were good for 10 yards a carry most of the night. I think the CPA 7th grade team (best on campus) could have scored against Indy. Ref crew were prima donnas across the board and made the game last forever. Apparently CPA holds every play and Independence chops every play according to the line judge who did truly throw more than 20 flags by himself. 12 seconds for first score by Sheffield on 87 yd KO return, then it took late into the 2nd before the refs and Indy got a non-scoring stop. CPA did not dominate block at any time, just screened and watched West, Madden and Patterson get 10-15 on simple zone reads. Elledge was off but McCormick and Henderson were on. Kane Patterson still looks hurt and how he had an Ohio State and now Clemson offer is hard to believe. Classic CPA methodical and Indy quick strike flash all night. Turnovers were not many but were the difference in the end because neither D could stop the other to save their life. Lots of individual talent on the field and Indy should be an offensive power next year with Collier and Cash. Hard to explain how the best on the field was the CPA OL when they got at least 10 accepted holding calls. They still dominated and had Indy with hands on hips from the late 3rd Q on.
  7. They requested a move to Class 5A, from 6A (despite being a very large school) but the TSSAA Board of Control said no. I didn't see any specifics on their request.

  9. The Commercial Appeal: Memphis area high school football Class 1A and 2A preview https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/sports/high-school/2019/08/16/high-school-football-tssaa-memphis-tennessee-class-1-a-and-2-a-preview/2017667001/ The Commercial Appeal continues its high school football preview series with a look at Class 2A and Class 1A. There will also be previews of Class 6A and 5A, Class 4A and 3A, DeSoto County and Division II. Top players Quincy Briggs, Freedom Prep, So.: Briggs had over 1,000 all-purpose yards, scored 10 touchdowns and picked off seven passes last season. His offers include LSU and Tennessee. Courtney Tate, Freedom Prep, Sr.: Tate rushed for 2,256 yards and 27 touchdowns last season. Demeries Brooks, Freedom Prep, Sr.: Brooks recorded 113 tackles, four sacks and three forced fumbles at safety last season. He is being recruited as a wide receiver and holds offers from Southern Miss, Illinois State and UAB among others. Terry Wilkins, Fairley, Sr.: The Class 2A Mr. Football semifinalist rushed for 1,981 touchdowns and 29 touchdowns last season. Isaiah Conner, Fairley, Sr.: Conner was Region 8-2A's defensive MVP last season. Jerick Gaston, MASE, Sr.: Gaston was a second-team all-region selection at quarterback last year. Tyler Woodard, Freedom Prep, So.: Woodard made five interceptions and caught five touchdowns last season. SJ Harris, Oakhaven, So.: Harris had seven interceptions last season, including three in one game against B.T. Washington. Eric Davis, Douglass, Sr.: Davis rushed for over 1,000 yards last season. Top games Freedom Prep at Bluff City, Aug. 30, 7 p.m. at Kirby This will be the first region game in the inaugural football season for Bluff City, a charter school that opened in 2017. The Grey Wolves take on defending region champ Freedom Prep. Freedom Prep at MASE, Sept. 6, 7 p.m. at Melrose When these teams met last year, MASE had suspended nearly half of its roster due to academic issues and Freedom Prep won 46-12. With Freedom Prep losing five Division I prospects due to transfers, this year's game might be closer. Fairley at Trezevant, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. Fairley was 9-3 and posted a 5-0 region record last season. Trezevant was 5-6 in a solid Region 8-3A that featured Woddale and Raleigh Egypt. Can the Bears give the Bulldogs a challenge in their first season competing in 2A? Storylines to watch Freedom Prep without Chris Morris Chris Morris, the No. 2 offensive guard in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, and four other players with Division I offers, have transferred to West Memphis in Arkansas after being ruled ineligible by the TSSAA when they transferred from Freedom Prep to Memphis Central. Morris helped lead Freedom Prep to its first state quarterfinal appearance last season. But the Eagles return Tate, who rushed for over 2,000 yards last season as well as Brooks, who was a first team All-Metro selection. Can Fairley's Terry Wilkins win Mr. Football? Wilkins is the two-time defending Region 8-2A MVP. He rushed for 1,981 yards and 29 touchdowns last season. He was also a Mr. Football semifinalist in 2A and led the Bulldogs offense, which scored twice as many points as any other team in its region. East's realignment East won the Class 4A state championship in 2016. Now it will compete as a Class 1A school due to declining enrollment. The Mustangs will remain in their current classifications for basketball, baseball and softball for the next two seasons. Region predictions Region 8-1A 1. Freedom Prep 2. MASE 3. Westwood 4. 10. What in the world is going on out in West Tennessee? only 2 teams in the entire bracket from that side with over .500 record and one of those is only 6-4 with one winless team making the playoffs, which by the way is preposterous.
  11. The Board of Control meets on June 12-14 and one of the items on the agenda is the reclassification for the next 4 years. Has anyone heard any rumors about possible changes? Or possible playoff changes?
  12. 6A Football has 49 teams. 26 of the 6A teams are in Middle Tennessee. East Tennessee has 14 6A teams, spread out from Northeast Tennessee down into Hamilton County. The nine remaining are all in Shelby County. The 6A Class is divided up into eight regions from east to west. Regions 1, 2, and 3 all have seven teams and Region 4 has six teams. This puts 27 teams on the east side of the bracket. Region 5 has seven teams. Region 6 has six teams. Region 7 has five teams, and Region 8 has 4 teams. This puts 22 teams on the west side of the bracket. 32 teams make the playoffs. The way the playoffs are now 16 teams out of 27 from the east make the playoffs and 16 out of 22 make the playoffs from the west. I believe a ratio should be used which would put 18 teams out of 27 in the playoffs from the east and 14 out of 22 in the playoffs from the west.
