The BUFFALO RIVER SPRINGFEST Class A/AA/and AAA tournament, celebrating its 15th year, is the only invitational softball tournament in the state, which does not have any team entry fee, nor any admission cost at the gate for fans attending games. 3. Forgive me for bragging, but I'd like to give a tip of the cap to one of Scotts Hill's own. For the second time this season, Evan hit three dingers for the Vols in an SEC game (Mar. 27 LSU)... the third yesterday was a grand slam that secured the win against Vandy, and was his second of the game against Jack Leiter, who is the projected first pick in this year's draft. Let 'em hear that roar Evan! # ONCE A LION, ALWAYS A LION

  8. Hendersonville boys basketball team have some of the best talent in the region yet they continue to get out coached. This has been a constant for this coach as he once was the girls coach back in 2010. He killed the program then and is doing the same today to the boys. Time for new leadership. Current coaching effort is inept. I hear he is a great classroom teacher and that is great. Reason for post, I’ve been following a few of the players for several years thru middle school and AAU. This is the only coach in the Sumner county area to not benefit from the available talent pool. He has multiple guys on the team that should be recognized weekly but nothing to report under his guidance. Check the coach’s record, talk with the parents, and ask alumni that played for him. It is a Losing program. The community is not proud and HHS should make a change for the sake of the current players and future of the program. If it were a winning program beyond the wins & losses, I would not be making this call. The kids deserve better. The community deserves better.

  11. With CMCSS getting a late start to the season, how will everyone look? Will Central make the playoffs again? How will CA look? Will Rossview make some noise in 6a? Who will finish behind Henry County in the 5a region? I also hear it’s possible that CHS might not play Rossview on fall break off week.

  21. Flashy Offensive play is fun to watch. Who does not like a 95 yard TD pass or 65 yard TD run? I'll tell you who. The Defensive Coordinator! In my opinion, DEFENSE is what wins championships. It's SUPER EARLY, but lets hear who everyone thinks has the best chance at a Gold Ball based on their Defense. Super weird coming from a former O-Lineman I know. I see Alcoa and Maryville and I see two defenses that are always tops in their Class. Who will be the Alcoa and Maryville in 4A this year? AND.......GO!!!
  22. Thank you to all who have served! We enjoy (and take for granted) freedoms that few societies have ever experienced since the beginning of civilization, and it's due to those who have fought to secure and preserve our independence. Within my lifetime, our boarders have never been threatened, nor our freedoms to worship as we choose, pursue financial security, or gather with whomever we wish been infringed upon... for all that our society owes our military a debt of gratitude that can never be overpaid. Sincerely, thank you all.
  23. The Daily Times is reporting that the City Council approved a project to install an artifitial turf field at Maryville High School. This is badly needed due to drainage problems. The field is usually in pretty bad shape by playoof time. Apparently there is a large amount of community support.
