But anyways trey and his parter linbaugh (sp?) came in second in the doubles behind the other volunteer team, congrats to them on going to regionals. in singles the older brumit def. the younger one in the finals, so they as well are going to the regionals....Good luck to evryone!

First off I would like to post that the Brumits are awesome players and are probably going to become even better during their high school careers.  doubleplay96 I think you need to educate yourself on the game of tennis.  It comes down to who brings their game and wins.  My second comment is for highcountry_40 not every high school team consists of "high country" club players and exchange students from Thailand.  I cannot speak for every high school but I do know the current situation of Volunteer.  Many of the players are multi-athletes and have picked up tennis as a second or third sport.  And they are doing an awesome job!  As a volunteer tennis fan and experienced college player I have personally seen many of the boys improve over the year (some have only played a year.)  I read your opinion that all teams "except one" suffer from "just bad coaching".  Well coming on a Volunteer message board and posting that has made a personal attack against Volunteer's coaching staff.  You are wrong.  If you had watched the boys grow in their game you would be able to see that they are being taught the fundamentals of tennis.  The coach teaches the basics. I don't need to name them off since you already know "the basics".  How arrogant to judge any high school player or any coach!

Arrogant? No just seen to much here. You have to admit we are on the bottom of the money pole. Its not the players or in most cases the coaches but a lack of funds to hire trainers and yes even coaches in some cases. Example- I know of a coach in this district that was tough by their plays. I'm not judging just watching the game and the kids. My wish is they had the equal funds as the bigger scholls just to see their progress.

This overall just turned out to be a great season.From reading the message boards and people predicting Vanzant and St.Louis,Cox & Brumit,and the other brumit coming in.

 

As far as Vanzant and st.louis go,it's obvious their friends were on here talking about them,they both had succesful seasons though.Vanzant finishing second in the doubles,and St.Louis losing to Curtis Brumit in the district quarters I do believe in what seemed to be a dominating score but was a decent match.Congrats to both of those guys.

 

James Cox,can't say a bad thing about the guy.He worked his butt off and had a great year,I'm looking forward to seeing him contending for the title next year.Just being in contact with the guy this year you realized how good of an athlete and person he was.

 

Brumit brothers,also both great competitors and players.Best of luck in regionals and hopefully advancing to state.

Yeah I agree, this has been a good season. Did anyone else watch the match between Chris Brumit and James Cox? I've never saw Chris play much before and I was surprized when I saw how good he was. I know Curtis was sick that day but a freshman almost wining districts? Anyone else think this kid might be better than his brother by his senior year?

 

Anyone know where the results of the Regionals will be posted?

boys single- Brumit(older) def Brumit in finals.

girls singles-Amanda Pike def. a girl from SCHS not sure of her name.

boys doubles- Clark/Hurd def. Vanzant/ Leinback.

girls doubles- GP girls def. unicoi girls.

I was wrong about girls doubles. Unicoi girls beat GP

Congrats to Volunteer's Hurd and Clark for making it to the state in the doubles matchup. They were defeated in the first round, though, by a great DCA team.
