well im glad somebody killed one cause i sure didnt. saw 4 different gobblers saturday mornin but all of them were henned up and wouldnt come closer than a hundred yards. sunday didnt see a thing. i heard a bunch gobblin on the roost both days but after they flew down i never heard another sound. maybe next weekend it'll be above 40 degrees when i get up and they'll be a little more vocal.

good luck - i think there are good turkey spots around here -east tenn. , north ga. , -a lot of leased land can sometimes make it hard to get on - not sure there aren't more birds out your way - are you in west tenn. -are there big timber company tracks that people can hunt - good luck - jt

i know west vaco has some places you can hunt on if you get a permit but it really isnt worth it cause there arent many birds on their land. i think Chickasaw might have some places you can hunt also but outside of that i dont know of any public places except for the ones you have to get drawed for (Natchez Trace, etc.). my girlfriends grandpa owns about 1000 acres so i dont mess with those public places very often.

i just returned from kansas and mo. my son and i killed our birds in kansas (2 + 2)but the weather got us in mo. , gonna try to go back out for the last weekend but not sure yet. - as for your part of the state i have a friend who owns 2000 acres near camden and it is loaded with turkeys , he only heard one bird sat and one bird sunday , so they have definitely shut up for the time being - i tried it in that area tuesday morning on my way back from mo. and didn't hear a peep , maybe when the weather pretties back up they will crank up again - i certainly don't know what makes them tick , but my friend in camden said his birds were going hard three weeks prior to opening - good luck - jt

Saturday morning they picked it back up some. i heard 3 different birds gobbling constantly up til about 8 o'clock. i let 2 jakes walk hoping one of the big boys would come in and then about 30 minutes later the guy that was huntin with me shot one of them. seen a big bird but a hen came out in the field and he hung up about 100 yards away. then Sunday morning it was back to being pathetic again, never heard a gobble and only seen 1 hen. our birds are split up and gettin call shy now, its gonna be a challenge the rest of the year but maybe i'll get lucky and get atleast one more.
