Thanksgiving in Germany

Looks as though my world-travelling daughter will be getting married on Thanksgiving weekend in Tuttlingen, Germany which is in the SW corner of Germany, just north of Bern, Switzerland. Her German fiance was a student at ETSU which is where they met. Anyone have enough air miles for four free tickets?

Since he is marrying an American he can't work in the US for two years. They will live in Frankfurt and then move to the US.

So,,,can she work in Germany during the next two years? I lived in Germany for a few years and I really enjoyed learning the culture, language and Oktoberfest. Guten Tag.

Sorry... all my miles are with Southwest!

I guess it will be up to us to keep you posted on the Football semifinals that weekend... but you'll probably be too busy to notice. Congrats!

She can work there but companies in her field of international business finance want you to know a little more German than she currently does before they will hire you. She will take classes for a few months until she does. She is fluent in French and pretty good in Spanish.

Well, she's off. We left her at the Nashville Airport this morning and she is landing in Charlotte about now. Will take off in three hours for Frankfurt and will be living in Karlsruhe, on the Rhine River on the French border. One of the stages of the Tour de France finished in Karlsruhe. She may work or she may start taking classes as she is thinking about going to medical school. Wedding is still November 26th in Tuttlingen.

Now we just hope life is what she expects it to be because her expectations are way up there.

My daughter and her brood (husband+ three kids) are there now. She is visiting her O'ma. They are in the HOF area, about 70 mi. N of Nurenburg. Near the old border between E Ger-W Ger- Czeckoslovokia :)

The Bern area is awsome. The Karlsruhe area is neat. :)

Frankfurt area discription is not allowed on this board.(hint:a vacuum/lack of gravity) <_<

I would suggest that they get involved with a local hiking club.(wanderverein) ;)

They will see more of the countryside and culture on the week-ends, than anyone paying big bucks as tourists. B)

Well. we now have four of the five tickets we need. Three are with Northwest (hopefully they don't go on strike) and my wife has a free ticket she earned by taking all of those kids to Europe over the years. I don't know what airline she will be flying. My son has not cleared his absences with his professors yet so we are holding off on his ticket until then.

We are going to Frankfurt until we get everyone there. Then, on to Karlsruhe. Next step is a rental car. They don't have any vans available and I'm not sure we can get 5 people and luggage in a car. But, we'll work it out.

Here is where we will be staying part of the time, looks like:

    • Yeah, I don’t see that AC situation ending well. Let’s be real, AC is a super redneck school, always has been. Before it’s all said and done, there will be drama. As I’ve said before, people will sell their souls to win football games. It’s crazy.
    • Booger thinkin that it probably not unreal istical to be thinkin the TFP could be ones source..... Booger just sayin
    • Hard to believe that it’s two kids from The McCallie School, and one each from Dobyns Bennett and The Baylor School.  I really thought a couple of other kids would have made the podium this year.
    • I have said it many times before, Coach Phillips stated awhile back; "We coach players that want to be ROADRUNNERS!"  Even if they takes their lumps and bruises and its been bruises the last couple of years, they're still not going to recruit players.  If they stay, LETS GO!  If they leave, SEE YA LATER!  IT's HARD BEING A ROADRUNNER!     Fulton was tough back in the days when they won 3 titles, no argument there.   AC-  I think they beat Alcoa this year , Alcoa isn't all that and they will take their bumps and bruises this year. They won't cake walk 4A and I agree those parents will turn on the coach because they're playing outside kids
    • What I meant to say is, "They don't have to use MONEY or other things to get players to their program!"  Aren't very good?  1 State Title in School history speaks a lot , go figure!
