outfield- good speed at all positions with 5 kids competing to start.

Outlook by position:

infield -Both starters (Miller and McLain) return up the middle and are great athletes.

catching-Two of the best in the state both have played since sophomores. We are very fortunate to have two much less one catcher with the talent these guys have.

outfield- We have a lot of depth but only one returning starter.

pitching-A very solid starting rotation not much depth out of the pen but two possible draft picks.

 

schedule-Very strong open season in Lassiter Invitational (GA) and play as good a schedule as anybody-Also play in worth invitational and warrior classic and the usa classic in millington.

 

We have as deep a team as we have ever had and a lot has to do with the injuries we sustained last season. We have had four players sign Division 1 scholarships early this year two SEC Matt Lea-Miss. STate, Zach Miller-Ole Miss, Grey Avant-Ark. STate, Trey Wiedman- Univ. of Memphis, Tyler Watson has also signed to play at Texasarkanna Junior college. We have another couple who will get some looks this spring. If are pitching staff can log a lot of innings we should be as good as we have ever been.

Overton Coach Mike Morrison plans to start Moore, his No. 4 starter, in the final.

 

The Bobcats will likely have to beat Houston ace Matt Lea for their winning streak to reach 36.

 

“That number is something for another time,” Morrison said. “When the kids look back 10 or 15 years from now, that will be a good accomplishment. Right now we have one goal.”
