Well, we've got quite an impressive list from our area  ...if you count softball scholarships!

Yellow card! This isn't softball, this is volleyball! Alright, ComPassion, you have my permission to brag. Do share with us who from Chattanooga (and the surrounding area) made it. After all, you gotta get your money's worth from a yellow card. B)

Katie Brush, USJ - MTSU

Ashley Asberry, Oakland - MTSU

Apparently Asberry has slipped under the radar. I hope someone has seen her in action and can comment. I've never heard the name.

Ashley Abury, also an all state Basketball Player, plays middle blocker. She will definetly not be the tallest player on the court but probably will be the most athletic with probably the best verticle jump in the state.

Ashley Asberry is an outstanding talent. She is unknown because she didn't play club ball and she broke her leg last year about half way through the season.

She was the best middle blocker that I saw all year. Gigantic hands, freakish vertical and very raw. Before it is all over she will be a dominate force at Middle Tenn.

She is a diamond in the ruff. If she would have played Club she would have been a big time div 1 player...even though she isn't 6 feet tall.

    • Not sure how I would put it as recruiting perhaps kids trying to better their career by going to a head coach and coaching staff with connections all over college football that gets them the opportunity to go play college football and be coached by a coach with a pretty good track record.
    • Lee would have been a good choice, also.  I'm sure Benny was involved with the decision.
    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
