Surprising development.

Silverdale Baptist Academy has hired John Allen as its head football coach and director of development.

 

Allen led Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School in Georgia to an undefeated regular season in 2004. He coached this past season at Bradley Central High School.

I am sure that with Silverdales location he has the potential to pull kids from N. Georgia and the surounding area. They will do an excellent job in selling their program and getting kids into their program. Like he said in todays paper "I believe this program can be the next Boyd Buchanan, the potential is there...." Good luck and welcome to Region 3-1A.

Several of us talked about that this past fall when Sequatchie Co. played them at Finley Stadium. They had a few good looking players but not very many of them at halftime they talked a little about there middle school program etc..

 

I told some of the guys when we were talking that I think they could be a Boyd Buchanan type team in 6 to 8 years. Perhaps even faster than that.

Heres another excellent example of private schools going out there and doing what is necessary to win. Congratulations Coach Allen and all Silverdale players. Hopefully this will be the start of another great tradition from Tennessee private schools.

Perfect, a church school hires the torch bearer for the "good word". Charlie Murphy thinks that after they heard him talking his church talk Silverdale probably couldn't sign the check fast enough, they won't just drink the koolaid, they will even help him mix it. This has to be big johns last hope, these people are already blinded by faith, I'm sure he sold his "God talk" to them like selling cake to a fat kid. Nevermind the way he handled the BCHS situation.

Good luck to the Silverdale program. I don't have an opinioin on the hire, but the school has a lot of potential.

should be interesting to see what happens. Wonder how the teachers feel about it.

 

I bet he is making twice as much as the teachers. Could cause resentment amoung the faculty.

 

Not sure if hiring the big name to attract football players is the best thing for an academic institution.

 

Don't want to put all your eggs in one basket but I do wish them luck and would like to see more smaller schools do well with football.
