With Mitchell girls winning AA and Ridgeway runner up in AAA along with Hamilton boys winning AAA and Trezevant winning AA and Mitchell runner up in AA, do we rule the track?

It seems that way now. Memphis is a hot-bed of talent.

I feel kind of sorry for the Mitchell boys.... runners up two years in a row... and by such a small point margin.

I am so proud of those boys. They left it all on the track. With the loss of Foote in the 100 & 200 we knew our chances were not that good. Thsy still battled to the end.

yes it appears that Memphis is dynamite on the track. however, the West (with the exception of Rob Sorrell and Memphis East's 4x8) has no big time distance runners. Almost the distance events were won by the east and middle.

 

other than that though.... the Memphis area is killin!

Distance runners don't win track meets for you. As for west TN not having distance runners beyond Rob take a liitle look at the last few years. AAA cross country was won by Memphis runners for the boys. Girls AAA has three or four of the top distance runners. Yes east TN has good distance runners and middle TN has good pole vaulters and decathletes(?). But there are kids from all over the state who are back next year in most events. It appears the competition across the state has become more intense and that just takes everyone up a notch.

and that should continue to happen for the next several years.

it used to be that a 4:45 in A/AA would get you to state and you'd place decent. (even last year) but this year you have to be under 4:40 to do anything.

The throws are still predominately won by East Tennessee though.
