Not sure where your heading with the Amphetamines, but I didnt know that alcohol was a performance inhancing drug?

And I know alot of people say that steroids wasnt banned by MLB until 2001, but for goodness sakes cant people see that they have always been illegal? Thats just like saying that meth isnt banned in the NFL, so its OK to use it!

The % of America did the same thing I did when Bonds hit 715 and that is turn the other cheek, because is was nothing more than another HR!

Amphetamines ("greenies" were very, very commonly used in Aaron's day, and there's varying reports of how much they're used even now. They help concentration and put off mental fatigue -- which makes them performance-enhancing.

Alcohol was against federal law when Ruth played. I'm sure it could also be something that helps mentally -- drink off the 0-4 night, etc. But regardless, it was against federal law, and that's the argument you're using about steroids. (Nevermind that they were actually banned in 1991, they just didn't come up with an enforcement method until a few years ago)

You are comparing something that helps you concentrate to something that could possibly kill your kid? :thumb:

And if alcohol was banned when Ruth played then why could you go down the street to a bar and buy a beer?

From what I understand, steroids are really only a problem if you abuse them.

Amphetamines are just as illegal as steroids.

Alcohol was illegal in the US from 1920 to 1933. Which means that Rith was breaking laws every time he got drunk. And by all accounts, that was very, very common.

Your right, prohibition! But that still doesnt tell me how it is a performance inhancer? :thumb:

Again, drinking off slimps could be argued as one. Or stress relief or something.

Point is, he used a substance that was against federal law.

Your argument is drinking off a slump?

So it was illegal, I am not arguing that, but you still havent giving me a logical explanation on how alcohol is performance enhancing?

But I will keep that in mind when my softball league starts, if I get in a slump, I will go get drunk!

Beer.....high calories.....made Ruth fat....provided more momentum in his swing....helped the ball travel farther when he made contact.

There you go.

But he can beat the Braves and Cards....and put them out of the playoffs....I hope Bonds comes back next year and along with Clemens.....

He didn't have much to do with beating the braves with his series stats being 1 win 1 loss and a 5.62 ERA. Oh, and don't forget about when he went against the White Sox and had a 13.5 ERA. Regular season stats mean nothing when you get to play in October.

Bonds will go down as the Greatest Baseball Player EVER!!! When he retires....Like him or not its the truth....

Ruth is the greatest player of all time. Had it not been for the size of the stadiums back then, Babe Ruth could have had over 1000 home runs. It was not unusual for a stadium to be 500ft to the wall when he played. And to think Bonds has to juice up to hit it 375 - 400 feet.

BUT, He is the Greatest Baseball Player of All Time......

Pete Rose cheated and everybody considers him the best hitter of all time....

Pete Rose didn't cheat. He bet, and never against his own team. Plus, he did it as a manager, not a player. He also didn't illegally enhance his performance.

All in all, Clemens won't have much of an impact this season. He certainly won't have the numbers he had last season. I would say this far into the season, he may account for 8 - 12 wins for the stros. His ERA was low last year, but so were his number of strikeouts. I still, however, think of Clemens as one of the greatest.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
