I agree that Boone's course is the hardest I've run or coached a team on. Unlike at VAP, there's no place to recover at Boone--it's just relentless. At least at Melton Hill Dam you have a long downhill to get your legs back, and at VAP you have the long downhill the beginning of both laps.

The hardest course EVER is the old 3 mile course at Melton Hill Park, home of the Big Nasty. Notice the KIL boys don't run it the old way anymore.

Team-wise, it looks like this:

In AAA Girls: 6 of the top 10 teams from East

In AAA Boys: 5 of the top 10 teams from the East

In A-AA Girls: 8 of the top 10 teams from the East

In A-AA Boys: 6 of the top 10 teams from the East (and the next 2 as well.

In DII Girls and Boys it's a little harder to compare because there are so few teams there, but 1st and 3rd in the boys and 2nd and 4th in the girls is pretty good.

That's one way to measure it based solely on last year.

If you look at the Big Dog individuals, well, they come from the Memphis area and the Nashville area. The Memphis mojo is fairly recent , except for those good CBHS and Frayser teams of long ago, but Nashville has long been good.

On balance, I'd go for East. A good team always stays home out of Region II AAA, for example. Last year it was West who stayed home, even though they ended up with a 9:43 3200 runner, a 4:31 miler, and an 8:16 4x8 in track. Two years ago OR girls stayed home even though we'd been ranked in the top 10 all year.

in a/aa boys the east only had 5 of the top 10. middle had 4 in the top 7 and the west got 8th.

in a/aa girls the had 7 or less cuz i know the middle got 3 in the top 6.

hey what did u run at state.....ok then

state had bad conditions for me both times. the course isn't that exceptionally hard. I don't dread running at PWP

I DREAD running at the Dam. Which has 2 monsters and 2 sideways hills. and hills that you climb around a turn and up.

twice.

we in the middle section are just kind of sensitive about the steeplechase subject because u guys told us how slow we were because of the times u saw us run on steeplechase and we told u how hard it was running there and why the times were slow and u still said we stunk and that the course is easy then u ran on it urself and the majority of the east guys did even worse than the people from the middle had been doing but still continued to talk about how easy the course was and all that crap

the thing with steeplechase is the conditions. the course overall isn't that bad. although it has some very untimely hills I've never had problems with it.

Classic I couldn't breathe. I bet every one of you on here beat me that day.

State was hot (after it was in the 40s only days before) and windy.

I feel worse after running the Dam than I did Steeple.

I loved running at the Steeplechase when I was a kid in the early 80s and we ran between the hedges: it was fast and pretty flat. I've never liked the course as it has been laid out since about 1987--it's much, much harder than it looks. In fact, if it were lined with trees like VAP or McAlpine, I think we would think it was a fairly hilly course. But since it's totally bare, it looks like it's flat, which it's not. There are also a few places where you have to slow down to make a turn, something you don't think about a lot. Bumbi's 14:14 there just makes me sick every time I think of it!

    • Shopping? His family is loaded and he's 6'6 I'm pretty sure he could start anywhere in upper East TN,So no need to shop. • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
