And Columbus has advanced to the US Championship Saturday. They threw the Carter kid last night, so I suppose that if they win that he will be the man to go in the championship if they make it. I've watched this Oregon team a couple of times too, and they are pretty good as well. It should be a very good US final.

I read somewhere that the Carter kid has hit 53 home runs. I don't know if that is a career mark or this season alone. Either is impressive.

Here's the article from the Little League website.

"The trouble started for Portsmouth, N.H. in the second. After starting pitcher Keegan Taylor gave two free passes to Brady Hamilton (hit by pitch) and Ryan Lang (walk), Matthew Hollis laid down a one-out sacrifice bunt to advance both runners into scoring position with Carter on deck. But Carter has already taken 53 pitches deep this year and with first base open, the New England champs weren’t about to risk an early deficit."

Georgia wins and will be playing in the title game tomorrow. I figure the Carter kid will be on the hill for them.

Sounds to me like they have a really good shot at this thing.

Did Carter throw against the Columbia team in Florida?

yes he did, and he went 2 for 3 with 5 rbi's.

I don't recall it being a close game. It was 8-0 Georgia. Carter is the lead off man.

Here's the boxscore:

Carter was the leadoff man and had 5 RBI's so why did you pitch to him? Did Columbia not have a scouting report on the Georgia team? The game concluded with the score 8-0 but with Carter doing most if not all of the damage the game could have remained close and anything can happen in a close game when 12U kids start to feel the pressure.

I doubt that Columbia had much of a scouting report on Georgia coming out of state. GA beat WV 16-0 and didn't pitch Carter who one hit Columbia. I think he hit a lead off homerun to put them up 1-0. Game winner in the first at bat. The boxscore has the top 3 batters getting 6 of the 8 hits and all of the RBI's. Can't walk all of 'em. Cleanup was 0 for and didn't knock in a run.

Congratulation Georgia for representing the Southern Region. A team from Alabama made it to the finals in recent memory, but I don't think they won it. Columbus wins 2-1 over Japan and Carter strikes out 11.

Here's the boxscore. Faces 24 in 6 innings. Three hits, one run, 11 K's.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
