Best Player In The State

Watch a highlight film on him and you will change your opinion. He is a freak. He can play tailback, receiver, even lined up at QB some, returned punts, returned KO, played DB, and he punted. He is a Reggie Bush type player. There are great RB, Great Receivers, but not everyone in the State can play as many positions as Tate and be as successful as he was at it :)

He may be the best player in the state, I do not know and unless you have seen every player in the state in similar situations you can not know.

Several media who voted on this award have seen every great player in the State and they voted Golden The Best :thumb:

Golden probably is the best player in the state.......on the offensive side of the ball. Chris Donald creates chaos on both sides of the ball. I'm not sure about his senior stats, but as a junior, he racked up 110 tackles (30 for loss), 13 sacks and five forced fumbles on defense while rushing for more than 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns on offense. Donald is voted the #1 player in the state by the experts at Unapproved Website. They evaluate film on thousands of players, not just from TN, but from all across the nation. For what it's worth, here is rivals top 5 TN players:

(in order)

1-Chris Donald

2-Golden Tate

3-Alex Watkins

4-Rae Sykes

5-Harrison Smith

All the players mentioned here are very good players. Golden is explosive as is Chris Donald and Harrison Smith. Awards for these players were based on statistics for 2006. Golden had great statistics as well as the others but he was most impressive this year. There are always good players coming up and they will succeed too; however, give all the seniors their due. The class of '07 is a very strong class.

The great thing about players like Golden and others getting national attention is that future players in Tennessee will get looks. Let's face it the state of Tennessee is an untapped pool of talent.

PS Golden was not ranked as high as Chris Donald because he chose to play baseball last summer and not go to the Nike and other camps. Not a mistake on his part since he is now going to one of the most prestigious universities in the nation (not only athletically but academically).

Not to mention he will be playing both football and baseball at ND. Not very easy to play two sports at the college level :)

B.J. Coleman brings so such to the table! Besides the fact that he lead D2 AAA in passing yards and passing percentage, he also won Mr. Football 2 years back-2-back! Just dont be surprised when you see him leading the Volunters to a winngin season possibly the SEC Championship, within future years!:ph34r:

Golden also won Back 2 Back Mr. Football awards AND he won the 26th Annual Charles Greenhill award given to the BEST player in all classifications in the entire State  Don't be suprised when you see him lead the Irish to a winning season and possibly the National Championship within future years

    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
