Just wanted to congratulate the Rickman girls on winning the James C. Haile State Tournament. This has been an amazing year so far for the girls. They are planning on playing in another tournament in Kentucky before the Overton County tournament. Coach Miller has done a great job with these girls. Sells is an amazing player, but he has them playing as a team and has them all playing well.

They county tournament will probably be tough this year. They will probably have to play a tough Allons team in the finals, who also won their division in the state.

They won't be playing Allons in the finals because,if I'm not mistaken, LMS won the coin toss and will be the #1 seed in the tourney. Allons and Rickman will play in the semis.

Overton County Girls Tournament held at Wilson Elementary.

Feb 15th

6:45 (4) Hilham vs. (5) Wilson

Feb 19th

5:30 (1)LMS vs. Winner of Hilham & Wilson

8:00 (2)Rickman vs. (3)Allons

Feb. 22nd at 7:00

Winner of games above play in final

This is the schedule I have.

Seems crazy that one of the best two teams will be out first thing. Not taking anything from LMS but Allons and Rickman has the best two teams. Will Samantha be back to playing for Allons?

I SURE HOPE THESE DATES DON'T CONFLICT WITH HIGHSCH0OL PLAY AS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE BOTH!!! BUT SEEMS LIKE THESE DATES CONFLICT WITH DISTRICT PLAY. HOPE THE ELEMENTRY COACHES LOOK AT THIS BEFORE SETTING THE SCHEDULE AS SOME PEOPLE HAVE KIDS ON BOTH TEAMS.

Have the girls played in the Kentucky tournament yet?

Keep us posted.

No they haven't played yet. Good luck to Coach Miller and his girls in the Ky. tournament. Coach Miller does a fine job with this team. He seems to have a good relationship with all his players which is something that can't be said at every school. Keep up the good work Coach.

You are absolutely right Mr.Bubble. Coach Miller has done a great job this year. All of his players seem to respect him and look up to him. That might explain why Rickman and Allons girls are so tough this year. Both coaches want to win, and their players want to win for their coaches and themselves. I just hope you guys don't finally beat us in the County Tournament.

    • From my understanding, Jay Graham pretty much took over HC responsibilities in that game, so you can thank him. Cute Andy didn’t need help, though. Cute Andy could’ve beaten us without any assistant coaches.
    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
