Here is a preview on 2 of the teams from another website

Maryville 12-20 1/23/07

The Red Rebels have their top 2 returning pitchers back for the 2007 Season. Drew Holt (Jr) compiled a 4-5 record last year and a 4.04 ERA with a 2.5/1 strikeout to walk ratio. The slender right hander mixes his pitches well and has an outstanding curve ball. The Rebels other big gun will be Caleb Penley (Sr).Penley, a hard throwing right hander compiled a 3-5 record with 2 saves ,ERA 4.15 and also had a

2.5/1 strikeout to walk ratio. Penley's best game last season was a 2-0 loss to State Champion, Farragut, in the District tournament. Other pitchers expected to contribute are Caleb West (Jr), Alex Bush (Sr) and Drew Tinker (So). The Rebels struggled offensively last year but are expected to be much improved this season. A

few returning starters and an outstanding group of young players will make up the Rebel line-up. Zach Connell (.405) and Alex Bush (.231) will again share catching duties. Louis Darras (.353) will be back as the DH and may play some 1st base. Joseph Miranda (.262) returns at 3rd base. Ben Bryan who has struggled for average but has been a top RBI guy the last 2 years returns to play 2nd base. The other starters will come from the JV ranks of a year ago. That team won over 25 JV games last season. The pro- gress of the young players mixed in with a veteran pitching staff have the Red Rebels in their best position since a sub-state appear-ance in 2003. The Rebels will be more athletic and should improve greatly on defense which should help a solid pitching attack. A new baseball facility and a better overall outlook have the Rebels looking forward to an exciting 2007 Season.

Lenoir City 14-24 1/26/07

The Panthers return nine letterman and seven starters from a very young team. Those players include Josh Gardner-C/JR, Justin Farrington-2B/SR, Josh Harvey-SS/JR, Will Ervin-3B/SR, Skylar Kinsey-Util/JR, Steven Lovelace-OF/SO, Nathan Turner-OF/JR and Matt Ezell OF/SO. The return of Andrew Shaver-1B/SR and Justin Kinsey/JR should help. Transfer Tanner Knott/SO should also help the lineup. Several freshman have a chance to contribute and will push the older players for opportunities.

Lenoir City returns almost half of their inn-ings pitched a year ago. Will Ervin 37.2 IP-24Ks, Josh Harvey 7.2 IP-11Ks , Steven Lovelace 20 IP-14Ks, Justin Farrington 12.1 IP-7Ks, Nathan Turner, Tanner Knott and Justin Kinsey should all get work on the mound.

The keys to success with this team will be focusing for seven innings and believing in themselves and each other to bring out their potential.

QUOTE(7inningparadise @ Feb 19 2007 - 09:03 PM) 826379885no passion must mean state championships

The last one was pure luck. Farragut couldn't win their own district or region. Seventeen losses.

Four of those losses to arch rival Bearden. You cannot get much luckier. Halls, a much better team, should have taken them out in the sub state.

HB20/21 is a pure prveyor of passion, and as always is completely correct about his 4AAA analysis

QUOTE(7inningparadise @ Feb 20 2007 - 09:48 AM) 826380726I agree with almost everything said, i am just mostly making the point that no one should say that District 4AAA has no passion, I mean you are talking about the probably the best district in the entire state.

The only reason 4AAA is strong is because of Bearden. In the past it has had thew best run booster club in the district. Strong booster clubs is what leads to a passionate baseball program.
