East 54-50

Not a well played game. It was ugly.

West 85-61.

West trailed by 2 at half.

CC shot 12-for-20 in the first half. West was 22-for-32 in the 2nd half and scored 55 against a lackluster CCHS defense. I'd wager that 15-18 of those 22 shots were wide-open layups. No defense at all...

Winstead scored 30, Hill had 26.

CC put 4 in double-figures (McGaha 14, Fine 12, Glenn 11, Kelley 11) but their defense just tanked.

Weird move by the CC coach to play a freshman (one that turned down the opportunity to play on varsity at the start of the season) who hasn't played or practiced with varsity all season instead of guys already on varsity, or jv for that matter, who know the system.

Is it time to turn over a new leaf like football and baseball did?

Not sure its a coaching issue with CCHS. Word has it that 75% of the players don't even show up for shoot arounds during the summer, none of them ever put in any practice other than team practices, attitudes seem to be a problem also, and most of the players just don't care. CCHS has just lost it in athletics. (At least now you see the football players working out) basketball at that school just seems to be a lost cause.

    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
    • you must not know how tssaa operates lol
    • I agree. A lot more people are starting to see what is really going on around here and how a certain few board members are abusing their power. Eyes are starting to open.
