Sorry it didn't go your way. Not at the game, but by what you described, the call appears right. If he were in a offsides position when the shot was taken, he would have been in active play, and gained an advantage by being there, even though it was a deflection off the keeper. Great site for various offside scenarios. http://users.erols.com/soccertip/offside/offside11.htm Only found it when having to settle a bet with a Keeper coach.

The WC player ran into the Lebanon keeper which caused him to drop it. The final call on that play was a foul, not offside

Not true! I was standing right on the end to the side and behind the goal and talked to the ref after the game. It was an offsides call. The WC player never got anywhere close to the keeper as he shot the ball from about 8 yards out. In the end it does not matter because the goal was called off and he was offsides. I told the ref that he made the right call and it was a good call.
