wow coniglio i am disappointed in you. you think harper can beat mahaney in the mile? mahaney went 4:30 splitting 2:18/2:12 i really doubt harper can hang with the top three. you are also severely underestimating markie voyles, she has been running faster times in the mile than duble plus she has a lot more speed so after the wear the 3200m will have on their legs she has the huge advantage with that 2:21 800m speed that duble doesn't have, and that 2:21 came after a 5:16 mile so she probably has more like 2:18-19 speed

my changes:

boys: johnson mahaney go 1/2 in the mile with clabo in third, 32 stays the same, 4x8 stays the same, 800 just put johnson in third

girls: 800m switch kara and markie, move markie up to first in the mile, 32 stays the same, 4x8 lipscomb moves up to second

predictions for winning times:

boys: 9:43.7 - 4:27.8 - 1:58.9 - 8:16.3

girls: 11:22.6 - 5:12.2 - 2:20.7 - 9:56.4

I know there will be 8 hours of rest for us in the mile but we are going to feel it anyway. Mahaney's mile was fresh but I'd say the heat and running a beastly two mile in the morning will have just enough for Harper's last lap.

I'm going to have the best view though. Unless Madden is right in front of me... then I won't see anything but his back.

Not underestimating Markie at all. Both Jess and Markie have gone similar times this year. Duble has split 1:12 several times in the last lap for the mile (including her PR) so I'd say speed isn't the question. The question will be how will Duble race since she hasn't really had to race since McCallie Mid South. Regardless, I'm really excited for all the races tomorrow through Friday. Can't wait.

Good luck in the Boro guys (and girls)!

Edit: Winning times predictions sound fun.

Boys

3200- 9:43.5

1600- 4:27.8

800- 1:58.7

4x8- 8:18.3

Girls

3200- 11:21.9

1600- 5:11.4

800- 2:19.8

4x8- 9:47.6

valid points there. unlike a lot of the people on this board you know a lot about running so you actually have reasons for your picks. but still, after seeing mahaney close a 9:51 in 61 i just don't see harper being able to hang with him in the mile even after mahaney runs the 32 in the morning. i think mahaney is easily capable of 4:25-26 as is johnson, they just cruised at section going out in 2:18. i think they will go 1-2 in the mile with johnson winning it.

you so put almost the exact same times as me for the guys, the 4x8 is the only one that is more than .2 seconds off. that's cheating, but i think i will just take it as a complement to my psychic time picking powers.

QUOTE(thecrippler2222 @ Apr 8 2007 - 12:19 PM) 826432353[/snapback]saw gj run at the bama relays, even if he hadn't graduated he wouldnt win state...

3200: Clabo - 9:37 (will be the only person to run a faster 3200 than my 5k pace)

1600: Johnson - 4:26

800: Patterson - 1:57

4x8: DL - 7:58 (if everyone runs it, but since top guys will be running the 16 it will probably just be like 8:10)

the alabama track n field website says gj's best time is 1:52.14, i dont see how u think he wouldnt win state
