Tennessee Best Barbeque Pork Sandwich

I've been to every corner of Tennessee and I'm always on the search for the best barbeque shack for a good lunch while traveling on business. It seems Rendezvous has the lock on Memphis and no doubt it is one of the best. Some will swear by Corky's, Calhoun's, Whitts, and Barbecutie but my mouth waters for Porkys Pit off exit 111 in Manchester. The place don't look like much but the pork barbeque is tender and favorable without much or any sauce. This is why I proclaim Porkys Pit in Manchester the best in the state.

If anyone can suggest a better barbeque sandwich, I'll stop by on my next trip.

everything i have seen on TV says Memphis is the BBQ king of TN. sometimes the little hole in the wall BBQ shacks are the best. The best BBQ we have around here is a place called Stans. I dont know how it holds up to Memphis BBQ but who know right.

I played it safe last time in Greeneville with lunch at Applebees and Monterrey's in the Town Square before that. I'll remember next time in Greeneville with the "E". I would have to say Greenville has some of the best mexican north of the forty in East Tennessee, real authentic.

In Alcoa - Bread of Heaven restaurant by Aloca High School across from 1st Baptist Church

In Knoxville - FATS BBQ near Fulton High School

In Lexington - Scott's BBQ off of 412 on the west end of town

First two are the only two places I have found that I will call legitimate BBQ on this end of the state. And I probably ate Scott's once a week from ages 5-18, if not more.

I honestly don't know if they still have it or not, but they used to have the BEST homemade fried pies that a lady would make for them. She would deliver them on Wednesday and would be gone before the weekend.

Thinking about that fried apple pie is making me hungry right now.

I'll stop by Bread of Heaven instead of Hooters next time I visit Alcoa.

FYI - During lunch they have an all you can eat buffet. They have ANYTHING BBQ related you can imagine on it. I can promise you will get nothing accomplished that afternoon, so be warned! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
