Well, kids transfer to other schools for various reasons. My goodness, does it mean every time a kid transfers in who is a good athlete we have to look over our shoulder?

I am trying hard to not be in denial. Zone thinks that I am whistiling past the graveyard. I may be. But one thing I know is that I am trying awfully hard to not pass judgment on stuff I do not know enough about.

I do not know anything about the CSAS kids but I am sure we will all hear about it if there is a problem.

Temple plays Ooltewah about every year or every other year and I am sure that Jeremy's parents were very familiar with our program, a little single a school coming in and whipping a much bigger school and they were concerned about him getting lost in a big school like Ooltewah. Brandon's family had a relationship with Dan Wadley before coming to Temple. Anyone in the area who loves basketball knows that if you want to play basketball at a smaller school who has legitimate chances at winning titles and getting noticed by colleges, then coming to Temple and playing for Dan Wadley would have been top on the list.

Dee was a student at the Senter School and he was a natural transfer to Temple, especially since the schools are like, two minutes from each other.

I honestly do not know about Larson and Ridley just showing up but I do know as has been posted on here numerous times already (ad nauseum) that Erik's parents and grandparents have a long relationship with the Temple system and Erik used to attend the basketball camps here. Someone else posted on here before that Ridley's mom was frustrated and upset about where he was going to school and gave up custody to Ridley's dad so she could get him out of where he was.

Did Scott Chastain have anything to do with their transfer? I am betting he did since they knew each other beforehand. Did he violate any recruiting rules? Who knows? Maybe.

yes dee was a transfer but his sister was a 4 year starter at CSAS his god-brother was a two year starter it was almost expected for him to go to CSAS and then his dad gets a job as security superviso at Temple and he then enrolls at temple hmmmm.

This is where Temples success has come from. Wadley was the coach and has 3 sons play. Skogen was a coach had 4 sons play. Newsome evidently was a security guy and his son played. Mouw had a job at the school and 2 of their boys played.

Temple is in trouble and in more than athletics. There is alot more to the Temple story that hopefully will come out and in doing so will clean their house to make room for the right leadership so that more innocent people keep from being victims. There are much deeper issues at work and this is just one of the results. Temple has a history of cutting corners, double standards, walking the gray line and mis-managing monies and people. The biggest problem comes from the mindset of the administration (head pastor) and filters down. They've been able to cover their tracks and keep things under the table due to their history of "inbred" hiring of "yes people" who do not have experience or abilities to do the jobs their hired for and who are too nice to say or do anything to bring things to light. Case in point, their new AD who is the son of the Senior Pastor and is too young and too inexperienced for the responsibility in most people's opinion. Last year i understand that all but 4 of the teacher's made less than $22K and the Director of their Early Learning Center made less than $15K. I heard that she was recently fired because she grilling out on her back porch on Sunday night rather than attending church and it offended a deacon. Apparently, another teacher was told she would be fired if she didn't start attending Highland Park until a parent threatened the school with a law suit. I've heard recently that Temple is making all of their teachers go to Highland Park which i am sure violates some laws and is more proof of their "cultic" nature. What really makes me mad is that it is because of these self-righteous "protected" people that the kids and parents are the ones who suffer. If more parents knew what was really going on at Temple, I would have to think they wouldn't want their kids there. My advice; don't be lured by the "cheaper" tuition cost as compared with Grace, Silverdale, CCS and that "free college tuition" offer. Pay the extra monies and get a higher quality educational, scholastic and athletic experience without all the unnecessary negative drama. After all, aren't your kids worth it. That, in my opinion, is what made Wadley and Skogen finally move on. I hope the hammer falls and that with it comes sweeping reform in that school for the sake of the school.

The reason, whether it is valid or not, that the teachers have to go to Highland Park is because the church is paying a lot of their salarys. I am sure when all this settles the church will also have to cover the fines imposed by the TSSAA.

I honestly feel for the people at Temple who have been doing right and are going to be penalized for something that the administration did not know about....I feel that this falls on the administration because it is the responsibility for a person in leadership to make sure that their institution is following the rules correctly...Whether the new headmaster and athletic director knew the rules and disregarded them is yet to be determined...but the boys that won the state championship in basketball are being penalized for something that should have been dealt with by the administration. Bottom line.....They should have made it a point to know the rules. Temple just needs to face the music and take their punishment and start rebuilding their athletic program. I feel that from what Bouler said on the radio that they are trying to do the right thing....

I only got to hear the end of Stump when Dr. David Bouler called in. That man is a class-act. He has not rushed to judgment and wouldn't pin the blame on anyone. It seemed that Stump was trying to coax him into saying something about Coach Chastain, but he wouldn't do it. Dr. Bouler deserved a standing ovation for that.

    • The only thing that was said at half time of the 45-0 game was Coach Story, he said: "I know y'all have been out there a lot, but kick-off team, y'all need to get down there faster!" Then he and the other coaches proceeded to go into the coaches office and we all went nuts!  It was the only time I can ever remember coaches not saying anything at half time. Definitely a great memory!!!
    • Boyd could actually be a grade below what he is now, but his parents didn't see the need to "redshirt" him like the other city school down the road would have pushed for....

    • Who invited the First Family of Hartsville?
    • When Danny was a senior he was the quarterback on the 82 team and also the placeholder on extra points. At the end of the game Heritage scored a touchdown with very little time left and went ahead 9-0. On the following extra point Danny rose up and threw a perfect pass to one of his receivers which made it 11-0 and Heritage's first win against Maryville since the series started in 77. Maryville fans were highly ticked off because they felt like it was rubbing salt in the wound. The following year when both teams met again at Maryville  the Rebels ran away with the game and after the first couple of touchdowns they went for two points after each score for a pay back and the score was 45-0 at halftime. The following Monday Bob Gilbert the sports eiditor for the local paper bashed Maryville in an article called the Humilation of Teenagers and tore into Maryville even though he was a graduate of the school. Those were the good ole days when Heritage had decent teams and the rivalry between them and Maryville was a fun event to see.
