I agree..McLin is easily one of the most talented all-around players around here...He can dribble, shoot, pass, slam it home, run the pg position...you name it and he can do it...

I would take McLin over MJ, Blake,EJ, AND Channen...but that's just my honest opinion....If McLin would've transferred to DC as some folks WERE SPECULATING DC would've been a front runner for a state championship but that's just my opinion! I'm taking nothing away from MJ, Justin, EJ, or Channen as they are all premier players from West TN....

No sir.. i would never in my life put McLin over Blake and MJ. It just isn't logical.

Of course you wouldn't take McLin over Blake because your from DC and that's just smart of you! I have nothing to do with any of that players and the teams they play for...I'm just stating what I have seen from each of the players and who IMO is the better player...Like I said their all premier players in West TN

Choctaw 08..I live in Newbern myself..my son goes to Dyer Co...But no way Dejuan Taylor is better than Channin Geanes..

I agree with you Bigster. You have MJ at 5,and he is better than all 5 you have down. There are only two on the list that is worth mentioning, and that is Brown and Blake. The rest are not in the top 40.

I've seen all 5 of these players several times over the years..Have seen Channen just about every game he's played since I go to all the Lake Co games...Have seen Blake a lot ...I go to the Dyer Co games when Lake co isn't playing and I live in Newbern and my son goes to school there...Have seen M.J. and Epperson probably 20 to 25 times each..during the regular season..tournaments... also when both Humboldt and U.C. have played other schools close by..Have seen McLin about 6 times....Blake has improved on his range even more since last year playing AAU ball and working out with his strength coach..Dickie Nutt,Arkansas St. was in Newbern about 2 days ago and Andy Kennedy,Ole Miss was in town yesterday recruiting Blake....Ranking these 5 would probably depend on a teams needs..If you're needing a rebounder and a shot blocker..go with McLin..Not sure about his range from outside...If you need a pure 3 point shot specialist..Blake is the man ..M.j.Brown and Channen Geanes can both shoot from outside but can also take it to the basket..both are excellent shashers and Channen has those long arms and can slash and drive the basket for easy buckets..Rumor is that Geanes has been tearing it up in camps since the season ended..Heard Lake Co won a camp at Martin and beat Brownsville and Ricky Taylor..M.J. could have had better stats than he's had but isn't selfish and has a lot of talent and shooters around him the past couple seasons...Epperson is probably the best leaper and looks to be the best athlete of the bunch..is a good rebounder and shot blocker ..but not much range away from the basket and a terrible free throw shooter....My top 5 would be 1.Justin Blake ..2.M.J.Brown 3.Channen Geanes.4.Victor McLin.5.E.J.Epperson...Just feel like Blake is too good a shooter not to be #1 and has stepped up his game on defense ..Channen and M.J should both be at the top in West Tenn this year in scoring and top players on their teams..Both can handle the ball ..Victor is tough around the goal..just not sure he's as well rounded as M.J. and Channen in all aspects...Take Epperson away from the basket and because of free throw shooting..he comes in last....But any of the 5 could make someone's list as #1..Just depend on what your're looking for..

Thats good that those superior guys have been doing great in summer camps and all, but summer camps do not mean anything. You have to acknowledge the fact that some teams such as Haywood had football players that could not attend the summer camps. Therefore, Mr. Geanes is a great player but don't think he is better than Ricky Taylor because they beat them in a summer game. Ricky Taylor made All-State...use your resources.

Haywood is not the only team to have basketball players play football..Lake Co wouldn't have a team if they didn't have players doing both..Just saying what I was told..I also said it could have been a rumor..but heard Geanes was the best player on the floor that day!

That's not me that has M.J. at #5 Chipper...That was Choctaw 08..I believe in my post I had M.J. at #2 behind Blake..I would have Channen and Victor McLin both pretty high up..especially in the top 40 that you don't think they are..I don't think there's much difference in any of the players..You'll see when Channen goes up against U.C...He will have to do more and I think you'll see him score at will..The only thing that worries me about him is reaching around and getting in foul trouble..

I know that wasnt you Bigster.I was responding to Choctaw 08 who had 4 Dyer Co players and MJ at 5.I know Channin is a top 20 player if he puts out all the time.He goes thru stretches were he does not fully insert himself the whole game and he gets in foul trouble every game.I dont believe that Channin will be scoring against UC at will this year.If he does,it will be in garbage time, cause Lake Co is going to take at least 2 beat downs against the Tornadoes this year.Lake will have all kinds of problems with the press this year without SEP.

Elliot Williams is by far the best senior in the state, there is no real arguement there. After him you have Philip Jurick, Carter McMasters, Laurence Bowers, Terrico White, and DeMario Williams in no order.

By far, eh??? Elliot Williams must be pretty dern good...If he is better than Justin Blake, Channen Geanes, MJ Brown, and Victor McLin I'd be very surprised!!!

    • Well, your Big Western Hunt better turn up some Zebras to come graze on the Stones to make the jungle gametime ready again and make sure the plumber bros. still will come service the facilities at the Mecca. I hope your weekend is Fowl. Tell Rip hello from the Five Oh. Maybe the Gravedigger will catch a ride with Alphaniner on a flyover soon to BNA.
    • It’s not hearsay, just patently false. As one of those young coaches he apparently “ran off”, coach never once ridiculed or degraded anyone. Sure he challenged kids and coached them very hard,  but we have different definitions of you call that degrading. Coach Hammontree changed my life when he gave me the chance to work for him. I learned more about being a man and caring for the people around me in 4 years working for him than I did in 20 years of my life. No one sacrificed more than he did. I left Heritage because I felt there would never be the support necessary to help the program succeed. I’m tired of hearing people drag others down especially those they truly don’t know. Coach has moved on and a new coach is there. Just let the man live and root for the team.
    • Waiting on the Great One.   White Horse and Rip have a big weekend in the woods, and the Sheriff is working the overtime here.      Turkey season awaits…..Big Gobblers everywhere.
