"A Farewell To A.R.M.S."

I logged on tonight for one last review of

the softball board before logging off for the

summer hiatus. I was dismayed to find that the

censors had muzzled that little thread of Del's

that had been such a pleasant diversion. Since

I do not have the option of posting my seasonal

farewell on my thread of choice, I will do so here.

To Del, Queenie, Fan, Twan and all the good sports

and talented writers who made surfing CoachT so enjoyable this year, I say thanks and, Lord willing, we will joust again next spring. To the rabid partisans and humorless butchers of the written

language, I also say thanks. Every stew needs a

little pepper. To CoachT, I say thanks for this

forum and all it's many entertaining and informing

services. So until next spring I say farewell to

Army jokes, Recipes, Motormouths and Scholars.

D.A.M.M.I.T., I'm gonna miss you guys.

Emerod(Who wishes the "Stupid Announcer" thread had been allowed to reach it's inevitable bicentennial posting before it's forced retirement)

Where's my M-60?!?!?!

Oh, you didn't mean that kind of arms.

emerod,

Thanks to you as well. I have enjoyed your posts as well. Nothing like a little intelligence mixed in to the fray of "rabid partisans and humorless butchers of the written

language."

As for me, I'm going fishing!!!

Del.

Remember that commercial...Emeraude...stays on my mind... emerod...you have a great summer...and I'll look forward to your return next spring...

Hey Del???...You've never visited Lake Erie, eh?...Carp are some good eatin' according to some of the pier fisherpeople...but that thing about that brown vein thing you have to avoid kinda ruins the thought of a nice carp fry for me...

For those of you planning to attend the "Del's Annual Fish Fry and Army Reunion" you can rest assured that there are no round mouths in the pot at my fish fry.

No carp, drum, buffalo, gar, shakerhead shad, skip jack or anthing else nasty go in my pot. But at least 100 lbs of fish will be fried up along with french fries and hush puppies.

As for the carp fishing, I will be trying to catch the ones in the private pond just to get them out of there. Once caught they will be thrown in the swamp promptly for turtle bait.

Which reminds me. Anyone like turtle soup? If so I've got several large ones that need caught out of my pond. One is at least as round as a 55 gallon drum. If I catch him and don't have a soup eater in mind I'll just shoot him and throw him in the swamp too.

Del (who thinks Coacht will have to start a fishing board soon.)

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
    • That is a shame.Romeo does know more than one circle.Secret or not.
