I learned to scuba dive when I was 9 yrs old. My father was a diver and taught lessons in the mid south for years. Spear fishing contests were the rage when I was young and my father and I use to travel and win these things all the time. Carp was the fish of choice and we would bring in 100 to 350 lbs in a day. They had a month long contest that ended on the 4th of July Picnic for AEDC. Dad brought in 1900 lbs for the month. That's a lot of Carp or Crap, whichever you prefer. We would run full throttle into a cove and make a hard 90 degree turn as we would leap off the boat at about 25 mph. Upon impact, carp would be everywhere. They are very curious. The noise would attract them. That was our secret to success. Sometimes he would come up with 3 at one time. We learned from the locals how to prepare them. And yes, you were right about eating the board and throwing the carp away. lol

Anyway, that's what I did growing up. Travel diving as opposed to travel ball. Lived on the lakes 24/7!!!

The carp is soaking in some water that lays in the parking lot of M&J Diner...have to soften the tough skin up...should be good...

Well...another Beehive Blowout has come and gone...and evebyone is still alive...which is a good thing...

I'm glad you had a good time...we did too...not even a threat of a headache this morning...

Bet you didn't realize we had such talented coaches and teachers in our system...they are good...

The carp went quick...poor SCPride will be picking that brown streak out of his teeth for a month!...

I'm thinking we'll be having another one in the not too distant future...maybe we can get a couple of these posters to show their faces...

Sounds like a party to me. Give me enough advance notice and the boy and I will come if someone's got an extra couch.

QueenBee, you can consider yourself, fan and twan invited to the Labor Day weekend fish fry. (Sunday) Sorry to say though there will be no carp cooked in my pot. You'll have to live with cat, many kinds of bass, stripe, rock, crappie and anything else that is on my good list. Bring your own drink and your own lawn chair.

Be prepared though. There will be former and current members of the U.S. Army here. They may do combat rolls at any time.

Del (who is the king of FanAds for this month, and who spent half the day building a TV, VCR, DVD, tape stand. I'm tired of the ones from Wal-Mart falling apart. I built one out of 2x4s and 2x2s.)

An extra couch???...for the right price fanman can make sure you even get to take the couch home with you!!!...he has some inside pull on that...don't you worry about it... there are even extra beds available...

Del...if you've seen fan, Twan and Twan Jr. eat...then you'll be out there fishing for carp...just to make sure you have enough for the rest of your friends...at least the good stuff anyway...are combat rolls like egg rolls?...

The TV stand sounds like it's going to be there for eternity...good job...

About those fan ads...I thank you for beating Ezell... but I'm appalled by the other schools that wouldn't even place one on here...they don't mind getting on here and running their mouths...but they sure don't seem to be wanting to help support coachT too much...just wait til football season...Smith County's record right now is 33 fan ads...I know we'll beat that...think anyone else will???...

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
