Indian
They used numbers from January 2006 for the 2007-2008 school year, so maybe they will use January 2008 numbers for 2009 reclassification. If so these hypothetical classes may not be too far off except for new schools and schools affected by the new schools. I didn't know the numbers they used were 1 1/2 years old, that helps explain why some schools are so far over the limits of a particular class. HighSchoolFanatic
From the way things look 4A might have to do what 2A is currently doing. Just count from Knoxville to Bristol the teams that could potentially be in 4A. Thats alot. But best scenario is that only time will tell. Rhea Co.
Having a four-year system allows teams like Rhea County to be playing lower than where they should be. Even with year-old figures, they should be in 5A. This year they have about 1500 in the school. It also allows brand new schools to play down, a couple of years ago a new school with 1200 students was competing in Class AA and beating teams in most every sport, from baseball to girls basketball. In football they played 3A and won the region. That school hasn't done nearly as well since moving to AAA and 4A. Teams don't have four year schedules, they have two years schedules normally, home and away, no reason the enrollments and classification periods couldn't follow that. That is the way it always has been. The TSSAA always finds a way to keep us down. Whether it is old school enrollement numbers or changing the numbers for classification. Rhea County is growing very fast with more people moving here and already having high enrollment numbers in the lower schools. I know what school you are talking about yes they did dominate in the lower classes, and now they are not that competitive anymore except wrestling, baseball, basketball, and golf. And if they keep growing like they are this school will soon be 5A.
lcfootball
Does anyone know where to get this years enrollment for schools? Perhaps somewhere on the TN Goverment site?
Bighurt
Does anyone know where to get this years enrollment for schools? Perhaps somewhere on the TN Goverment site? On the TDOE website - http://www.tennessee.gov/education/parents.shtml, there is a link "Non-Public School Listing" which contains a link to a spreadsheet with 8/2/2007 enrollment numbers for non-public schools. There is a "Public School Directory" link on that same webpage which allows you to search for a school but there are no enrollment numbers. I suspect that Indian is correct in saying that January 2008 numbers will be used for the 2009 classification.
mondo44
what if white house would move to 5a you would have a region like this white house beech portland gallatin hendersonville station camp mt juliet lebanon wilson central what a region that would be
mondo44
this setup would make sense, nothing personal against the Nashville schools but they are a gate killer. Glencliff, Hillwood don't bring more than 50 people while McGavock, Antioch, Overton and Hunters Lane maybe 200. H,ville would be guaranteed a good gate at every game. ihavenofriendzz
I didn't know Science Hill was 8/12... How many Central High Schools are there? and I wonder where HVA will be. they are expecting around 1300, but everyone around there knows it will be much larger in the next few years because there is a ton of room for building new homes.. plus if it is going to be like they claim I see it being the new Farragut... aka people move there just to send their kids to that particular school. Indian
I can see at least 9 regions in 5A in a couple of years, you'll have Ooltewah, Bradley, McMinn and Soddy-Daisy around Cleveland and Chattanooga, likely Rhea moving up, possibly Walker Valley moving up.
