Mr. Amazing is obviously Walt Disney, or should i say Reed King. A player for DB, but who cares its not like he ever plays anyways unless DBs up by 15 or more points. /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> He should get a lot of playing time this year in conference play because no one can touch the tribe. With Dustin and Todd sinking threes and Edwards, Flack, and Hardy controlling the post and inside game, o and dont forget the threat of Justin hes just amazing. There are at least three other players who will contribute off the bench but im short on names right now. anyways, DB should go far this year. Im going to keep my fingers cross. They will be a great show. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

So have the trophies already been made out for DB or Science Hill? I figure there is no reason to play these games. You would think they have won the past two Districts, right? Wrong. Judging from the preseason predictions no other player from another school will score, assist or rebound as well?

Thats what I was thinking. lol I think D-B and Science Hill are the favorites going into the season, but there are a couple of other pretty good teams as well. And we all know how Charlie Morgan teams start a season. And who is The Hill's go to guy this year now that Omar is gone? There will be some close games that they will need someone to get it done. If Tennessee High can start off better this year than last year then they should contend for the title. And if Volunteer is allowed to get away with trying to hurt opposing players again this year then they could very well contend. Still haven't heard who Crockett's new coach is.

Jamie Freeman. Was the JV Coach the last two seasons. Good choice. Very motivated and committed to seeing the Pioneers maximize their potential. We're happy with him down here.

Thanks for the info. I hope he turns things around there. I thought maybe the girls coach would move over and take the boys. Best of luck this year.

Goodness gracious people.... This isn't a sports report more like a soap opera. Might I remind most of you that many of the people we've given high regard to are still in football form. Now of course the season doesn't start for another four weeks or so but still, how do you think they will fit back into their respective teams? Just a thought.

Uh, ok. Thanks for the reminder. And by the way, the season starts in 12 days for alot of teams. True that alot of players will still be playing football at the first of the season, I was kinda hinting at that with my post. Maybe you should read it again. Have anything else there genius? Oh, and are you seriously looking on this board for a sports report? If so you will be seriously disappointed.

Ah, this should be fun. Look I just replied to what you said earlier and what i meant by a "sports report" was that does anyone really have anything worth saying about the Big 9 conference besides McConnell this, and Flack that. Basically you just said I have no clue what i'm talkin about which didn't answer the question. How long will we really have to wait to see a teams full potential? And I like what you said earlier about the Falcons and their cheap shots but what experience exaclty have you had playing against them?

Thats an excellent question. I would like to hear more about the rest of the conference as well. What I was saying is that most of the posts you will see here will not be breaking down a team. They will be someone tooting their own horn. However there are a few posters that add some insight to their respective teams. As far as how long will it be till teams start playing to their full potential, well, that depends on the team. Some teams seem to play better at the first of the year and some play better the second half of the season. Last year is a perfect example of that. Personally I think its the month of January that tells alot about a team. Thats when everyone will have all their players into "basketball shape" and will be setting themselves up for the district tournament. Also, I don't think you need any experience playing against Volunteer to know the way they play. Do you need to play against Science Hill to know that they are going to pressure the daylights out of you? That has been their style of play since George Pitts was coach there. Do you need to have played against Tennessee High to know they are going to play a tough zone defense and a slow and deliberate offense? They pretty much have had the same system since Dale Burns. Its the style of basketball that these coaches teach their players. Same for Volunteer, its the style their coach teaches his players. Play hard every second of the game, Hold when you get beat, undercut the shooter when he's in the air, no easy layups- knock him to the floor. You won't find a team with more heart than the Falcons, but their methods leave alot to be desired.

Well then we agree. I didn't even think to remember the game against DB in District last year when Volunteer almost cheap shotted their way back into the game. If I remember correctly, three of their players coming off of the bench fouled out. True that THS's offense and defense flourished in the latter part of the season but I believe it was Tennessee High's heart and drive to prove everyone wrong that it wasn't just going to be SH and DB as usual. Oh, and Turnbull, District MVP, will return with others who helped fire them to their somehwhat shocking performances.

I believe it's been a while since DB and Science Hill have been in the District Championship. Probably back in 02-03, I don't see Tennessee High back in the Championship since they won't be playing at home. I have heard the District Tournament will be held at Volunteer, "WORST PLACE EVER TO WATCH A BALLGAME.

Yea, the District is at Volunteer this year, and everyone knows what that means. The beat down will be on. For the life of me I cannot understand why the parents of the players in that program put up with their coach. The things he is telling his players to do. I know that alot of parents disagree with it. I know alot of the players don't like to play dirty. But he insists that they play that way. You would think that someone somewhere either in the program itself or in the media would have the stones to say enough is enough. Unfortunatly its probably going to take someone getting seriously hurt and filing some lawsuits to get the problem taken care of. It would be ashame for it to get to that point, but in this day and age it will happen eventually if something isn't done. And by that time its to late and everyone loses.

    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
    • you must not know how tssaa operates lol
