Blackjack54 "On the team/bench and on the floor are two entirely different things futurecougardad. It's my opinion that the boys from Blountville can outplay the Holston boys at the high school level. "

My point exactly Jack out of the 10-11 players that are ON THE COURT for Central, 4 are from Blountville, the other 7 are from Holston. You're going to be hardpressed to win this debate.

I dont think you could say that neither Holston nor Blountville are spewing out the talent so whats the point. Is Vaughn getting ready to retire or something?

A first stepping stone for Dobyns-Bennett begins this week. AND NO I am not speaking of tuesday vs. Tenn. High. I am talking about Sullivan East. DB should roll over Tenn. High with there great defense and pure shooters from the outside. The East game should be exciting cause East ALWAYS has a great crew of people to come out and support against the Indians. The one thing that DB can do to slow East's offense down is with their great TEAM defense. DB will use both Sylvester and Halvorsen to slow down Snapp. Both of these guys do a good job of denying players the ball to the best players DB has played thus far. It will come down to them on Snapp, if they can play the kind of defense they are capable of, then this could be another blowout to add to Dobyns-Bennett's list. Any other thoughts?

I predict that DB will have an easier time with East than with THS. The reason is style of play. DB is going to come straight at you and challenge you to match their talent and size (same as Science Hill), and I think everyone outside of Bluff City (and many inside) knows that that aint gonna happen. With East as I said before the season (and I still stick to it) if you stop Snapp you beat East. Coach Morgan has more than enough defensive weapons at his disposal, (Sylvester usually being the weapon of choice) and unlike Witcher he knows who and how to use them. THS on the other hand has been able to take DB away from their fast pace style and has made them set up the half court offense. So don??™t be surprise if your game doesn??™t end up more like DB vs Volunteer more so than ours.

There you go, throw that famous big 9 half court game at the Indians. Slow it down "Big 9 style" Oldschool. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Cappy... nice to see you on the board again. I just knew you would say something about the physical play of which there was none in the game last Friday. I do thank you for the compliments on Cradic and Bennett. Bennett has a long way to go before he is one of the Big 9 favorite PG's. I have talked with him about a few things he needs to clean up, like at the end of the game (2 To's) that a seasoned PG would never do. The game was not physical in the least bit. So that old stuff of how we play is not valid any longer. We have young guys who play hard, not dirty. I will not even go into detail of what confrontation at the end of the game with #25 (TN High) was about, or do you want to tell everyone what he did to Cradic? Look....the game is just that.....a game. I will not accuse any coach unless it can be proven for dirty play. Central is finess, DB & Science Hill is fast paced tempo, East is scrappy for 32 minutes, South is South, Boone is fundamentalist, Crockett is learning, TN High is smart and methodical, and Volunteer is hard-nosed. Country boys are just like that. Your analogy on TN High vs. DB & Science Hill is correct. The 2-3 zone will work to slow the game down. Corey (TN High) is an outstanding player but can get lost in the mix of things from time to time. He has to learn to take control of the game and impose the tempo and style of play that his team needs. He did it in spurts against us Friday, but he is good enough to do it all the time. That is what I'm trying to get Bennett to understand, your team goes as the PG goes. Control the tempo and you control the game. Anyways...... Good luck the rest of the season!!!! God Bless!!!!!

so waco? are u saying u might need your spurs because they like to ride you like a horse? and yall dont start blasting me as you can see this is a question only! lol

Im saying Volunteer plays "Smashmouth" basketball. The Fal-Con faithful keep coming on here and telling us thats untrue, but we keep going to games and seeing it is true. Seeing is believing! I believe their coach teaches it, I believe they try to use it to intimadate, and at times I think it gets out of hand and they use it to try and injure the other player. In the first half of the Volunteer -DB game two Volunteer players were going after Sylvester. It looked to me like they were trying to start a fight or something. In the second half they were so tired from the full court game they couldn't cause much trouble.

Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
