A levev playing field for all teams.

I've said over and over I wish the T$$AA would drop the split and multiplier and go to four classes accross the board with 10-12 regions in each class. Less travel, better rivalries, etc. etc. etc.

Alas, it's only going to get worse. Go down and watch your local youth football leagues and people will gripe about inequalites there in the first and second league games. I coach and ref a flag league at church and hear gripes from parents saying I have a vendetta against a coach (apparently he wasn't a good enough musician in my wedding so I am out to get him). Like you said baldcoach, we've created a mentality of finding every way possible to discredit the success of the successful in this country because it isn't perceived as "fair".

After the publics get rid of all privates, the open zoned and magnet schools will be next on the hit list because of "advantages". Who knows what will be after that. But there will be something, that I can promise you.

The persistent search for equity is called socialism...for more on that, watch Hillary's next debate.

Exactly! It is creeping in to our government, our courts (it is the opposite of personal responsibility), and now our sports...sad

Maybe thats what we should do. Pool all the athletes togther. Have an outside source rank them. Then have an assignmet proccess to divvy them to the schools. Everyone gets the same number of athleted and that have a cummulative score that is identical.

Thats about as asanine as what we are doing now. Right?

Anybody got a guess as to how many open zoned schools there are in the T$$AA? I don't mean that sarcastically, I really don't have any idea. I can just think of several off the top of my head.

And if you do that, what about the T$$AA rule allowing an athlete to play a sport at another school if their school does not offer that sport? Would you not have to put in the multiplier there too?

[Who are they off the top of your head. Yes put all schools that allow students from out of their zone to be eligible without living in their zone under the multiplier rule./quote]

Has anyone looked in to Nashville Hillsboro. They are an open school zone and also co-op with two schools that do not have football in Nashville. Why do they not have the multiplier applied to them. If I remember correctly they have been very succesful for many years. Can you believe it I did not mention Maryville at all this time.

not familiar with co-ops...what are they

If a public school does not offer a particular sport, a student from that school can play that sport at another designated school within that school system. The most glaring example I know about is in Maury County where a star basketball player from Culleoka (a small rural school) plays football for Columbia Central (a large 5A school). I don't know that it happens very often, but at least in this case, it makes a pretty significant impact.

Yeah it does. I think the intent is great. This kid has a chance to sign a college scholarship in football that would not exist without the co-op. Does it change the enrollment numbers? It should. The percentage of co op students to the total student population at Culleoka should be added to CHS's enrollment numbers imo. I don't know if that's how it actually works or not. I'm not sure a total combining of the two schools enrollment is equitable, but there's not much equity involved in high school sports in Tennessee in the first place.

The majority of public schools are open zoned in some way. ALL the publics in Hamilton County (and the other metro systems) are open in several ways. The only schools that can't take whatever transfer they want with no penalties are the privates.

LOL...it would be another way to get a "level playing field" I suppose...of course we would have to do the same thing to the coaches and have some formula to trade good players for bad coaches for it to be truly level.

It seems silly but it is the same thought process used for DII and the mulitplier...just carried out to its logical conclusion.

As far as the enrollment numbers, you are exactly right.
