Alabama

As most of you may know, Hoover High School's Coach Propst has resigned effective at the end of the playoffs. In light of the circumstances surrounding his departure, Hoover will be searching for a replacement who is an excellent football coach with impeccable moral credentials.

Maryville High School is moving up to 5A after one more season and, although we all know they can more than just compete with the 5A schools, there are some unknowns there.

Hoover High pays considerably more than Maryville.

But, here is the kicker- last May, Dr. Kenneth Jarnagin left the job as principal of Maryville high school. Guess who is now principal of Hoover and a good friend of Maryville coach George Quarles? You guessed it- Dr. Kenneth Jarnagin!

Who do you think will get the first call to fill Propst's position?

George Quarles will never leave Maryville for another high school job. He turned down Brentwood Academy. I believe if George leaves Maryville it will be for a college job. I worry about George leaving for Carson Newman when Ken Sparks leaves. George will never go to Alabama because he wants his family at his games. Every week his Mom,Dad,Sister,Brother n Law,Wife and Son are at every Maryville game.

It will be Quarles folks. I said that today and am not backing away from that prediction. Quarles has built Maryville into a football powerhouse nationally. I think he's going to look for a new challenge this off-season and Hoover is a perfect fit.

Brentwood Academy wasn't the fit folks because you did not want to be the coach to replace Carlton Flatt.

At Hoover however you take over at a school where winning is going to happen and the coach that just left is not going to be remembered in a positive manner after the recent events that have transpired.

Just a side note, but Jarnagin is only the interim principle at Hoover. He has publicly stated that he isn't going to be the full-time principal there.

Can you say GARY RANKIN?

No way. Gary could not and would not want to handle the PR that coms with this job. He would not be able to build the relationships with the parents that has to be maintained at Hoover. This position requires a well polished, PR minded type person. Gary is neither, nor do I think he wants to be. Plus the rumor was he wanted his children in a smaller school atmosphere. Hoover is one of the largest schools in AL.

George wouldn't put up with the crap that goes on at Hoover any longer that it would take him to turn a light switch to the on position. Somebody is living in Fantasy Land to think he would give up his family and move to Alabama. If you really new what George is all about, you would realise just how funny this thread is.

If he might be concerned with the unknowns of 5A Tennessee high school football, then he would not go to 6A Alabama high school football. In spite of what all you Maryville folk think, he will have plenty to deal with at the 5A level next year.

Maryville moves to 5A in 2009. It won't be easy and we know that but we will not run and hide when it happens.

I agree 110 percent!!!! If he were going to leave, he would have taken the BA job IMHO. Hoover is a mega school with over 3000 students. BA is a private school that selects its players to somewhat, plus, your kids would benefit from the academic experience and other social advantages at BA. Hoover CANNOT touch that!!! I stayed at the Wynnfrey Hotel in Birmingham/Hoover last weekend and talked to some of the folks there and they just chuckled about the the politics that is Hoover High. NO WAY GC takes that job. He would be miserable!

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
