Both teams are coming into this game off multiple OT games but on two very different mindsets.....Can the Vols keep turning everything negative that is being said about them and their coach in the press into added motivation and beat L.S.U??...Can L.S.U overcome the lasting effect of losing a chance to play for the National Championship after a 3OT loss to Arkansas and beat the Vols??....

Not defending Ainge,but had Daniel Lincoln hit those field goals Tennessee would've won...Even with Ainge's interception that was brought back for the TD it would have been 21-20 LSU...Add the FG L.S.U. missed and it's 24-20 L.S.U....Tennessee would not have tried to go for the first down in the 4th quarter..They hit that FG and it's 24-23 L.S.U......IF UT holds like they did to get the ball back late,I guarantee you Ainge would not have been throwing the ball after the long screen to Foster...He would have been handing off to Foster to get the ball in the middle of the field to set up the game winning FG...26-24 UT and everyone is happy...Lincoln's missed FG's changed the whole complexion of the game....The kid's been almost automatic all year but didn't step up in this game...

 

Back to Ainge...He actually looked like he was the back-up getting the start instead of Perrilloux...Miles coddled the young QB and didn't put him in bad situations...

 

I thought UT actually came out and played a pretty good game...They did things that they haven't done all year...Next season they are going to have to get the ball in Gerald Jones' hands..He will be a difference maker..They look to have some good young receivers..If they can find a QB they will be okay on offense...I was very proud of the UT defense...Chavis came up with a bigtime gameplan and those boys were handing out vicious hits...That unit could not really have played any better...They give up 2 FG's and a TD...I would have taken that if somone had told me that before the game...

 

It's a tough way to lose,for sure...But they have nothing to hang their heads about...L.S.U. knew they were in a game...

Well, you can't blame this one on the coaching. They had a good plan in place.

 

As for Ainge....

 

Not faulting him at all on the first one. Endzone seats let you see a lot of stuff, and the pass was there in IMO. Sometimes, you just have to admit the other guy made a good play.

 

The second one.....inexcusible. He never looked off O'Neal from the second the ball was snapped. Happened right in front of me. As soon as he let it go, well, we won't repeat what I said.

The first one was his fault too...He threw to the wrong receiver..He had an open receiver crossing in front of him...He admitted it,Fulmer said he probably threw to the wrong guy and Danielson pointed it out on replays.....He made it awful easy on the L.S.U. DB....Surprising seeing as how he is a senior...Going into the game you would think he would get the nod for the advantage between the two QB's....

 

I agree with Solomon the gameplan was there...Some of the players just didn't step up and execute it....In Ainge's defense he did have some receivers not catch some balls..........

 

What does everyone think about the bowl match-up with Wisconsin??....

A background check needs to be done on Ainge with connection to bookie, mob, or Vegas. It has all the appearance. A season veteran 4th year QB doesn't make these bonehead interceptions.

He doesn't have a very good track record against L.S.U.

 

Who can forget that interception he threw down in Baton Rouge when he was a freshman while being flung into the goalpost??

 

Then he tried to play with the bad ankle and got sacked or hurried a few times before Fulmer ranked him during last year's game....

great job by phil.. i mean the blueprint to beat LSU is out there.. run your qb and hit your backs out the back field.. WHY DIDNT YOU KEEP LINING #4 UP IN THE BACKFIELD & WHY DIDNT YOU KEEP HITTING FOSTER OUT THE BACKFIELD.. #4 prob averaged a first down everytime he was lined up in the back field.. and the big play before Ainge threw the ball to Beckwith (who made a great play baiting him, if you watch the replay he "kinda" was open but he knew he only had to wait then slide over for the pick) was Foster out the backfield.. All the talk bout Miles gonna get outcoached, i think he won this one.. this was the game you wish you had Mr Schaeffer.. we should have beat yall by more but we kinda dont know how to put teams away.. WE OWN THE DOMES!.. haha
