What is new? It has always been that way at Happy Valley. You folks from Carter County should know that by now. Usually the officials give Charlie's teams all the breaks when you play on the hill at the Valley. Then there are the Barney Fife constables that hang out at the games and try to intimidate the visitors. Oh I am sorry, I jsut dissed Barney.

TSSAA should have a rule that a player's parent cannot keep the offical book or clock. How hard is that?

Absolutely. I totally agree. I would be so angry if this were my team who got "beaten" in such a fashion.

Even if parents are trying to be fair, there is too much of a conflict of interest for them to be completely objective.

Do you think the schools would be willing to pay an "official" clcok operator ?

I have said before that I think it would be a great idea for the clock operator to be part of the officiating crew assigned to the game. We could use JV officials or "new guys" that are trying to get up to the varsity level. They would make maybe $50 per night and at the same time get to watch and learn as the varsity officials work the game. Could be a great learning tool as well as solving your problem with the issue you have with "local" clock keepers.

It has been my experience that most clock keepers around the state do a great job. Then you will always have one or two schools where the clock operator becomes too 'involved' in the game.

NFHS, NCAA, and NBA rule is that a player cannot get a shot off with 0.3 seconds or less on the clock. The only thing they can do is tip it in. I do agree on the clock operator part. The TSSAA should provide a clock keeper in basketball as they do in football. I mean you have more games that come down to the wire in basketball than in football. I would like to see proof of the clock, but I don't.

The video just confirms the clock didnt start on time. Put a stopwatch on it. He catches, takes a step and shoots in 0.6 seconds. I dont think so.

You do understand the rules? The clock doesn't start until the ball is touched by a player.

And you can catch step and shoot in 0.6 seconds.
