Yeah I already voted Yes I just want to know the "no" side of the thread! Even though it says "just vote" I would like to know a good reason why anyone would say no!

Why do you understand why a person would say "Yes" but you can't undertsand why a person would say "No". Let me try the questions around . Give me a good reason why anyone would say "Yes".

One good reason for the split would be more State Championships for the publics...LOL. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Alright I'll give you A GREAT ANSWER!!!! The "Yes" side is that Public schools have to take the kids they have in their area and Private schools can and do pull from anywhere or everywhere they want!

Old Pirate says, where have you been beavo5? OP has taken more than a few hits on these boards for the support of a split. Old Pirate believes............................. a split could make this type of discussion deminish. Probably the biggest argument would be travel issues for the privates.

Old Pirate says, BH frankly OP thinks most are just tired of the arguement/disagreement.

All of the public's problems revolve around the issue of kids coming from extended distances to attend a particular school. Usually..... most have the strong beleaf of recruiting or an incentive has been rendered.

OP remembers back in the 70's when SP was defeated in the state title game by Brentwood who had kids playing from various parts and some reportedly out of state. We all know what eventually happened @ that private.

Well, sorry you been taking hits but I got your back! And MVM is right there would be more championships in public schools cause Publics wouldn't have to compete with Private schools that recruit every kid! If a kid has to pay to go to a certain school, that school should be in Division II and play in a fair place but those teams are scared they will get demolished if they were in Division II!

What about "public" magnet schools? Check the state championships for last 3 or 4 years. How many have been magnet schools that get their pick of the best jr. high players in the city? Guess they have just been lucky that all of the athletes numbers come up in the lottery picks for the school??????? May be a coincidence, but seems guy athletes go to one magnet, and girl athletes to to the other. Guess luck of the draw ?

Old Pirate says you just supported what OP has said all along. The Chatt area has a large number of middle schools and the privates frequently recruit these for the athletic students. The public schools are left with what they get. OP says just witness the privates when participating in middle school and follow them later in high school. They obtain transfers and become more compeitive. Go figure, subject to speculation!!!! Draw your own conclusion.

Old Pirate says families are sometimes caught thinking that "all" is better in the private sector. Somethings are better and somethings are not always better.

I got the same feeling about magnet schools should split too! And as for magnet schools getting their pick of Jr. High players is true but at least it is in their own city not out of state or even in other cities!

All magnet schools are NOT ALIKE. CSAS was the first magnet school in the state of Tennessee. It is a k-12 school and DOES NOT get its pick of middle school athletes. It is very hard to get admitted to school there as there are long waiting lists in most grades. CJ Black who played at Brainerd and Tennessee is an example of someone who was a great athlete but was never able to get off the waiting list to be admitted. The kids and coaches at CSAS just work very hard to be competitive, no more of an advantage than most other schools. I do understand that this is not the case at all magnet schools though with some being able to choose students later in high school.

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
