My son plays in the 12 year old division this year. There are some great teams at this age group from Tn. Some of the best teams that I know of at this age group are:

Shoetiques - Knoxville Impact - Juice - Jackson Coyotes - Knoxville Stars - Memphis Travlers - Franklin Heat - and a new team that just formed called the Tn Dores. I may have missed someone and if so I apologize but these are the most competitive teams that I have seen at this age group over the past couple of years.

Game Day Baseball in Memphis has some excellent tournaments to test your metal. There are a couple of tournaments that draws talent from all over the country. One is Border Wars and the other is Battle of the South which pulls teams from as far away as California. USSSA does a great job at posting real time results for thier AAA and Majors tournaments. There are always Tn teams in the mix in each of those World Series events.

I am not as familiar with some of the other age groups but know that Tn has some of the best talent in the southeast.

I've seen several of these teams play in the past couple of years even though my son plays in 13 yrs. old.

The Memphis Tigers also has a great team in that age division but the team to watch very closely is the Jackson Coyotes for they have had a couple players that has been playing older to drop back and play that will help them greatly.

There is a team from Mississippi called Terminators that has alot of Memphis kids on the team. It's the best 12 yr. old team i've seen in this age division. I know i ask about who was the best in TN. Thought it was worth mentioning.

Thanks for the reply

In TN for 11s, Chiefs Baseball (they technically may be out of Dalton/N. GA) won Cooperstown last year for 10s.

Other top 11s....Memphis Tigers, Knoxville Stars, Shoetiques 11s, TN Ravens, Murfreesboro Warriors in no particular order.

I agree with the 12U Legends, we played against them last Fall (playing up) and although we stayed with them 3-4 innings they are potent.

This weekend should prove some of the best teams in all ages (April 4th-6th) in Atlanta in the super NIT road to Disney tournament. Very good teams will be there wanting to prove themselves you have to go very deep in pitching to win this one. This tournament and the one at Rockwood is the toughest tournaments in the South to win,

Not to take anything away from the Shoetiques (they've been a top program in the state for many years), or the TN Dores, but the Nashville Fury might should be added to this list. This is a new team this year also and they beat the TN Dores and lost by one run in the final inning to the Shoetiques this past weekend.

Just a note that is relavent to this topic and the Shoetiques. John Mitchell - the coach of the 12 year old Shoetique team was recently inducted into the Metro Schools Sports Hall of Fame. Congratulations John!!! The Strike Zone STIXX -- 15U team out of Ripley are really good. They just played a double header vs. the JCS JV and won both games. Team is made up of 1 8th grader, 8 Freshmen and 3 Sophomores. Those are grades they will be for the '08-'09 school year.

Would the Stixx be interested in picking up another player for a tournament. I'm a freshman looking for a good triple A or major team to play with this summer.

    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
