They are second in the nation in violent crime behind Detroit. They were #1 in 2006 and 2007.

And? Half of my family lives there. They're alive. Never had break-ins or any sort of crime around them. I visit A LOT and not just in one spot...all over Memphis, even in some not so great neighborhoods--at night, even.

Don't get city-phobic because of stats. Be aware of your surroundings and all that smart stuff and you should be good to go. I feel like the good Lord's gonna call me when he wants and there's not a thing I can do about it.

I'm not bashing you personally but one problem I have with some people and crime is that they are becoming too afraid to even drive through certain areas of a town, or the ghetto/projects. Those people are being ignored and they are pretty much the ones that need our help the most.

I'm off my soapbox. For now.

But it never hurts to remind someone who is visiting a city that they are not familiar with that they need to pay attention to where they are and where they go.

I am back in Alcoa, I didn't see any bad acts of any kind.

Actually. I like Memphis. It seems to be more of a residential city thatn most and has a very relaxed atmosphere. I have visitied very high school in Memphis, I have been to Friday night football games at Crump Stadium, and the Butcher Shop downtown is my favorite restaurant of all time (although I haven't been there in 15 years or so. I hope it is still there). But, it is still a place to beware.

    • Hard to believe that it’s two kids from The McCallie School, and one each from Dobyns Bennett and The Baylor School.  I really thought a couple of other kids would have made the podium this year.
    • I have said it many times before, Coach Phillips stated awhile back; "We coach players that want to be ROADRUNNERS!"  Even if they takes their lumps and bruises and its been bruises the last couple of years, they're still not going to recruit players.  If they stay, LETS GO!  If they leave, SEE YA LATER!  IT's HARD BEING A ROADRUNNER!     Fulton was tough back in the days when they won 3 titles, no argument there.   AC-  I think they beat Alcoa this year , Alcoa isn't all that and they will take their bumps and bruises this year. They won't cake walk 4A and I agree those parents will turn on the coach because they're playing outside kids
    • What I meant to say is, "They don't have to use MONEY or other things to get players to their program!"  Aren't very good?  1 State Title in School history speaks a lot , go figure!
