red boiling should be much improved and should easily run away with second place in the area and celina gave pickett all they wanted last year so they'll be third... that leaves clarkrange to take the title. pickett will be lucky to finish elegible for region tourney action... "crouch and aaron were great players" but the key word in that phrase is "were"!!!!!! :o

How could you even say that they choked, that is a joke.

Yeah they got beat by halls in the STATE TOURNEY. While Westmoreland whom they beat pounced on your head. Dont talk about choking, til you make it past the first game of the region,(i am assuming that you are from clarkrange as much as you idol them).

Nathan and John were very good players and they will be missed alot but there were other players on the Pickett County team. Brent Smith will have Pickett ready to go so don't count them out. Clarkrange will be tough because of their athletic ability and RBS should be in the top three with their athletes. The loss of Heady will hurt some. It will weaken the bench a little. Should be an interesting season. Celina will also be very competative.

Bulldog23 you are exactly right, the loss of Matt Heady from the team, in my opinion, hurt them badly. You were looking at a starting post man there and he was one of the biggest assets to the team. Now that he is out of the question, Mark McClure goes from strictly playing to being a wing/post player. He has only had 1 year experience in the post and that was back in 8th grade and he is now a senior. And since he is not a strength powerhouse, that side will definitely be the "weakside post". That will hurt in crunch time.

Yes muffin, you are right. Garrett Hudson will be a loss to the team also. He was not a leading scorer for the team, but he was the most aggressive. He wouldn't hesitate to take a charge or fight for the ball. He could nail free throws and get many rebounds. Coach Owens made the mistake of not putting Devan Turner on the team also when he tried out. That boy can break a press better than anyone that I've ever seen around here and he is a great ball handler and would've been the best person at point guard.

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
